Bloodborne Reviews Thread

I'm not surprised, Bloodborne basically takes all of the good things about Souls and cuts loose all of the bad. World tendency, losing humanity, etc. That shit sucked. Even having your damn torches go out sucked. This game is much more "friendly" about dumb shit like that while still keeping the meat and potatoes the same.

You make me sad. I loved that stuff. :c

I haven't even played Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, or any From Software games.

What I gather is, these are "gamer's games."

That is, they really reward dedication. That, plus production values, is probably why they review so well.

That said, whenever I watch someone play, the games look kind of boring and, I don't know...clunky? Some of the best games ever are far from spectator experiences though.

Now that my brother has a PS4 I almost want to just pop in Bloodborne to see what the big deal is.

Playing it is completely different from watching. You have to feel the tension for yourself.

Don't believe Dark Souls ever claimed the throne. It was the only heir to the throne and would take it should the King pass, as the King's bastard could not rightfully lay claim to it. However, much to Dark Souls' dismay, the King stubbornly refused to pass and his subjects continued to love him. Days ago, the King had another child and passed down the crown to him instead, greatly angering Dark Souls.

Haha this is true.

lol did you actually calculate it?!

I don't think meta's way of calculating the score are public ... they are weighting different outlets differently. But with IGN and EDGE (both heavyweights!) still not disclosing their scores, we might get a dip or a raise for 1 point IMO.

OMG......this is the moment the game became GOTG.

How good is the enemy design and animations! top of the class man! This wouldn't look out of place in a peter jackson movie.

On a side note, how is this game considered ugly? The graphics are art direction are sublime.

Yep this is my favorite monster so far

there is a crystal lizard 2.0 behind the giant though what a convenient place lol

Just curious, why are they considered a Joke? Seems like quite a random accusation to just throw around.

I'm sort of surprised so many of them have been Nintendo fans. I expected more Xbox fans to be posting the 0/10 reviews for whatever reason. In any case, it does happen with all exclusives. Sort of surprised Bloodborne is holding on to such a high score.

I'm not, I have found ultra-hardcore Nintendo fans to be the most extreme. On one memorable occasion I said that I didn't like 2D games as I don't find them immersive anymore, I had at least 10 posts telling me to 'go back to my dudebro shooters' or some variant. Maybe the Wii-U's failure has instilled an 'us against the world' attitude. Obviously these are not representative of Nintendo fans in general

It reeks of sarcasm.

It was 100% serious. They are absolute morons.

This could be a Castle Vidcon Comic.

First 2 bosses down...day 2 progress much better than 1.

I know this is probably better for the OT, but they spoil too much stuff in there.

German 4players updated their review. Seems like this is going to be a 90%+ game for them as well. (Can't link as I'm at work)

Cancelled my preorder at Amazon after they failed to deliver and jumped on the CE from a local store. The CE-Steelbook is much nicer anyway than the Amazon-Steelbook. Should have it by tomorrow.

Let me preface, I am not bashing BB. I own the game and enjoy it, however, I have a bone to pick with FROM's mentality with UI

So I picked up Bloodborne and I knew exactly what I was getting in to. A very difficult game. However, there is a mentality with the developer (FROM) that is inexcusable in my eyes and that is a lack of explanation regarding certain UI elements. I understand that the game is based on a lot of trial and error and you are meant to figure things out as you progress, but having certain UI elements that provide the player with zero explanation is just bad practice. Whenever you take the player out of the game and have them hunt on a website for what certain icons mean, you're ruining immersion and the focus shifts. Again, I understand that certain elements within the game you learn over time and are not explained right away, and that's perfectly fine, but when UI elements that are NEVER explained in the game but only through other player external communication or websites, you have to re-think your approach.

If youre in the menus you can press R3 to look at every single stat. Is that what you mean? Pretty sure Dark1 and 2 had this as well, cant remember if Demons did though.

Or do you mean the actual HUD? Didn't really take me long to get familiarized (though I'm familiar with the games already). The only thing I really needed explaining was the little circle that indicates weapon transformation. Most of everything else is explained in the tutorial areas.

I called in sick yesterday. I just couldn't handle it; it's all I could think about. The game is glorious beyond glorious.

Yeah, welcome to the Sous games. You eventually learn to deal with and appreciate it. It's just part of what the games are.

How about you don't post stuff from batshit insane fanboys that have been permed here? What next... you gonna ask us what we think of the theories of that misterxmedia dude?

What?

I just posted an article that compares both.

You are free to disagree, but I thought it was good to look at the criticism as well as the praise.

Was the author a banned gaf poster?
