BO Wkd 06•16-18•17 - Queen is dethroned, all hail McQueen, ScarJo roughed up

DM3 might fall victim to this trend of busted up franchises, but I think it might be ok. I think Illumination Studios have made some sort of blood pact with an Elder God.

We're gonna be in for one more Bayformers at least because of China. I do think they'll cool on that prior idea of what was it 4 more sequels or something crazy like that. Bay needs to just wrap it up.

I don't know about that. I don't expect a reboot but the Bumblebee movie might serve as their equivalent of X-Men First Class.

Knocked out of the billion dollar club.

I forgot about that. Might be the best approach then.

If they ever do close out the series they need to go heavy on it being the final film and the nostalgia.

I expect DC's next movies after JL to be Aquaman, Batgirl, GCS, WW2, The Batman, Nightwing, SS2, MoS2 or Black Adam and Flash/Cyborg in that order.

Yeah, it's time to put Transformers out on ice. On the bright side, they managed to milk it for 10 years.

.

The major franchises under Paramount's banner are:

  • Transformers
  • Star Trek
  • Cloverfield (this is probably stretching the definition of "major")
  • Mission: Impossible

And that's basically it.

Paramount releases this year:

Baywatch (bombed)
XXX 2
GitS (bombed)
Monster Trucks (bombed so hard they called it a failure before release)
Rings
Transformers 5 (worst domestic opening performance of the series, and definitely not getting a billion like they wanted out of it worldwide)

Cloverfield and mother! are all it's got going for it the rest of the year

That estimate for WW would give it the 10th best 4th weekend ever. Bump up actuals $400k and it gets to #8.

Looking at "Superhero Origin Movies" right now on Mojo and it looks like WW could easily (or will, rather) slide into 2nd place.

Is there any likelihood of her topping Deadpool, and then Spider-Man?

Seeing a Wonder Woman film as the #1 grossing origin story for a superhero would just warm my little heart.
