The value proposition is just tough for me. It's basically a supplemental gaming device without the supplemental prices lol... I suppose relative to a PC it is but not next to the other main consoles.

I'd consider attempting to go Switch only but there has not been enough info on 3rd party AAA games to convince me of that yet.

That and they've basically intentionally setup hardware "double dip" scenarios by choosing 8nm chip and no-OLED at launch. Want better battery life? Will have to buy or repurchase later. Want OLED? Even longer.

I think even with the console having a $450 price tag, I would still feel pretty good about the Switch 2. Steam Decks are $350-400, and this honestly seems better than one of those for me personally, so the price of that wasn't a dealbreaker. The $80 Mario Kart I think was the first red flag though. Feels like we barely had a chance to get comfortable with $70 games, and now $80 coming in so quick really doesn't feel right.

Then of course there's the whole tariff BS putting the price of everything into question now. It's getting harder to feel good about it. Not entirely the fault of Nintendo, so I'm not fully mad at them for it. However Nintendo themselves are not really doing a good job at speaking to the customers about the difficult position they're in. Even before issues of the tariffs came into mind, there's been some arrogance from Nintendo and their lack of transparency for the Switch 2 in general that has been frustrating. Don't think we'd ever have seen this kind of behavior if Iwata or even Reggie was still around. This is just my personal perception, but it just felt like they had this attitude of "we don't have to do jack shit, you'll buy it anyway, so you sit tight and shut up"

Instead of being excited like I should be though, sadly I'm feeling like I won't be able to justify whatever price they have to settle on if the tariff situation doesn't work out.

Unknown on the warranty but at a guess I'd imagine Nintendo would have to honour it.

Usually the way this works here is that the retailer is responsible for the warranty, and then they will in turn send it off to Nintendo or whatever for repair. So yeah, that makes me a bit hesitant.

As someone who finds Nintendo games a bit on the childish side and already has a deck, probably just sticking with the deck, can't beat the sales and keysites, also library is shared across PC and I can stream to the deck. Nintendo ecosystem just sucks in comparison imo

Yeah if you don't care about 1P Nintendo, getting a Deck/Ally/Legion Go is a way better deal in the long run.

I was really hyped, but the direct completely killed my excitement. The whole ecosystem feels like a big slap in the face to the consumer. I might still pick up games for the collection (if a SWITCH 2 cart is in there lol), but I'll wait for a special edition of the console. Hopefully, by then, some of the terrible decisions will have been reversed.

It took about 24 hours before the FOMO set in and I sort of just accepted it. I know, I'm part of the problem. So now I'm pumped again.

Nintendo is the only console maker that values exclusive games and sticks to physical media.. At least for now. I've almost given up on Sony after the dreadful PS5 generation where they've done everything wrong. So. Guess I want to support them.

I'm almost certain that Nintendo literally created game key carts as a first step in the process of removing physical media and control second hand market.

I don't have too much issue with the console price but the game pricing is a deal breaker for me personally so I will not be getting a Switch 2.

I was already pretty sour on Nintendo's pricing of certain games on the Switch and this just goes way above and beyond that. Especially considering that Nintendo games stay at their full price throughout their lifetime.

If it weren't for the pricing I'd be getting one for sure but $114 CAD ($128 with taxes) is just more than I'm willing to spend on any one game.

Mario kart just doesn't do it for me. Had they led with a new Zelda that was a proper follow up to BotW, that might have piqued my interest. Almost everything else nintendo makes these days is mobile level slop.

The mouse controls are the only positive aspect about Switch 2.

I am non-buynary unless a worthy successor to Sin & Punishment Star Successor that makes use of these mouse controls is released.

I wouldnt use that mouse for more than 5 minutes, it looks like it would cramp your hand almost instantly. It would be cool if they let you use a Bluetooth mouse but as is, yeah, that's a trashy gimmick.

Whatever the Switch 1 had was already plenty considering the optimisation they did on the data front. And I own like 40+ games.

Yeah, that's the definition of lackluster.

Even the original PS4 launched with 500gb of storage.

For 450 to only get 256gb is pretty laughable.

The PS5 pro launches with 8x the storage... 512 would have been adequate storage for a console that you have to install many of the games to internal storage. Otherwise the cost of expansion storage HAS to be taken into consideration of the overall cost.

Videogames have always been an expensive hobby. But we have had eight years to save up for the Switch 2.

The plan is not to buy it. I never ended up finishing a single Switch game and overall didn't feel it was worth it. My son mostly plays PC and Steam Deck now. Even with Pokemon, he prefers Palworld and Minecraft mods for his Pokemon fix, so as long as I can distract him there with alternatives, I don't see a need to waste money on this.

Gaming is getting too expensive.
I'm puzzled how this companies can get away with 450 euros handhelds and 70 euro games, plus pay to play online, plus overpriced acesssories.
And I'm also puzzled why people are willing to drop 450 euros because of mario kart...
I'm not seeing how would a kid justify to their parents to pay that much for a new expensive console when they already own a switch that looks basically the same.
But people seem to be pumped so this should be another huge success for Nintendo.
I already own a switch I'm not seeing my self getting a SW2.

Have a stupidly large switch1 library so it was a forgone conclusion to buy the switch2 at launch. However it's not clear now that older games will get a significant performance boost or if they're even compatible. Games like Elden Ring only running at 30fps is a huge red flag so now I'll need more details and game specifics.

Taking a hard look at my switch1 library and evaluating if it's worth continuing on this platform. Leaning towards skipping this generation. Deckard is coming soon and already feel a giant sucking force coming from deep within my budget.

Verily likely I'll get Switch 2, but it's not a slam dunk. If they don't fuck up pricing in US and I can get the Mario Kart World bundle, I'm in. Far less decided on the games themselves. There's a high chance MKW will be the only NSW2 exclusive I own for a long time.

I will buy it but not at launch. I want to see reviews. Battery life tested. Docked and undocked comparisons. Third party game support and performance. Key cards explained (can you sell them. Unlimited downloads etc). SD card pricing. Backwards compatibility testing, both for games and peripherals. Eshop redesign. If 80$ is the new norm for first party. There are too many unknown factors right now. I'm not in a rush either. I can wait until Nintendo does a few revisions and grab one with OLED, better battery life, more storage etc.

Im all in for the console, but not day one and not even this year. But hardware seems competent, i'm really stoked about Mario Kart and why not, some 3rd party with great quality to enjoy on the go.Sadly, game pricing really sucks and its beyond me how are delusional people defending that. Will wait and see. Also, i have an OLED Switch (The Zelda One) and not sure how the new LCD screen, despite being Full HD and HDR, could actually offer a near quality on blacks levels, contrast and colors. Maybe wait for a future Switch 2 OLED model?
