I guess it's pretty safe to say that Take-Two is on board with Steam now. Bioshock Infinite seems poised to be Steamworks, as well.

I hope they implement Steam trading. It would be awesome to trade a TF2 hat for a level 99 gun of ass kicking.

For some reason I thought this was already confirmed at that presentation where Randy Pitchford made everyone take a vow then gave them Borderlands 2 Steam keys as a reward?

I wouldn't expect steam trading, or at least not trading that would be immune from client-side shenanigans like duping. Trading a tf2 crate for a combustion hellfire would be cheap. :)

I know that there's lots of time between now and the release of this, but do you guys think that it would be necessary to play the first one?

It's just that I got other things to play and don't have the time.

Hmm, you have a point. Steam trading would probably require always-on for all game modes, like Diablo 3. I wouldn't mind, but I know plenty of people would.

The first one didn't really have a story so I would say no but why would you want to play the 2nd if you haven't played the first?

If you have some buddies to co-op with, very yes. Otherwise, not really.

I wonder what the PS3 version will use, hopefully they dont get left behind and stuck with gamespy.

But great news, gamespy was the reason why I played Borderlands solo on PC. The lag was ao fucking bad.

In before someone defends Gamespy because "it didn't kill my dog, only burned my house down."

Thank GOD!!!

Item trading support would be a nice addition and why not dreaming on STEAM Workshop implementation aswell.... :P

I was waiting to actually want this game until this very announcement. Some friends and I tried to play Borderlands last year. We lasted all of 10 minutes.

You have another sale, Gearbox.

MOTHER OF ALL CREATION. I feel worse since I have to buy it on PS3 for my once a week friends lol

Maybe less sometimes ><

Bah, now I want to buy it on PC too since I will be wanting to really play it on there.

I was wondering the same thing. All the duping and modded guns killed the first game for me when playing online.

I assume this may fix that?

I try to be a voice of reason on the forums (with conviction and research in the opinions I form). Hyperbolic statements just typically show lack of intellect or an agenda that involves seeking a lot of intention.

That being said, Gamespy as a matchmaking service is a piece of dog shit that should've imploded years ago. Multiplayer has been ruined for games that rely on them. Rome Total War, the Lord of the Rings RTSs, C&C3, Borderlands. Every time I see their logo in a game, I know I'm only a few clicks away from a world of connection issues, out of sync errors, and disconnects. Their complete failure in execution of what they're supposed to do infuriates me almost as much as the fact that developers continue to utilize them.

I lanned the first Borderlands, so I didn't have the poor experience those who had to use Gamespy suffered, but Steamworks is always a welcome addition.

It didn't, though that would be an awesome inclusion for the sequel.

Yea, that would be awesome to have this time around. I played a lot a the original splitscreen, and it was pretty good like that, but every time you would go into a menu the would skip for like half a second, pretty annoying. Very excited for this! September can't come soon enough.
