Boston: One dead, one captured, city re-opened

So am I reading this scanner right? They have the suspect pinned down but they are waiting for EOD to arrive before attempting an approach?

So what has the news been reporting the past two hours? Seems like no developments but a lot of crazy shit happened that could or could not be related.

The last couple hours have been pretty low-key, aside from this development with the old guy (which may be going nowhere). But I can understand their desire to approach the situation with extreme caution, given what's already happened.

For those have trouble imagining a dead man's switch, imagine a grenade with the pin pulled. As long as you keep pressure on the lever, the grenade doesn't go off. Once pressure is released, the lever flies off and the grenade is armed and ready to explode.

I don't understand why a Dead Man's Switch is a high end piece of equipment? Seems like something relatively simple to engineer, especially compared to the other equipment terrorists work with?

I honestly don't know what I'm talking about though, lol, so ignore me.

Because it has a militaryish sounding name and everyone is in reactionary hysterics due to the bombing and not using their brain and realising how common/easy to make these kind of things are.

DEAD MANS SWITCH:

you press a button or pull a trigger and hold it. When you let go it triggers a explosion or etc...

AKA as soon as you release it: DEAD MAN SWITCH.

It's a switch that completes a circuit when the action is free instead of depressed. It's not rocket science.

Shit even Miles Dyson had a improvised dead mans switch in Terminator 2, it was just a upside down button.

When the second suspect is found, you know he's going to go down fighting.

Really hope there's no more casualties. They need to catch this guy alive.

Because they have been in about a trillion movies.

Anyone who watches movies should know about it. The second i heard dead man switch Terminator 2 immediately popped in my head. As did about 100 other movies and tv shows.

But they don't call it as a dead man switch, they just scream saying I GOT THIS. BACK UP. ETC.

He's a scared, possibly alone 19 year old boy. I wouldn't bet on him going out in a blaze of glory. More likely a shriveled wreck.
