MIT has cancelled our classes for today. There's no rumor of any more shit going wrong on campus, it seems mainly like a mix of respect for the deceased and from sympathy for the emotional turmoil. The email mentions a possible memorial service later after the institute president's plane gets in.


I wasn't planning on sleeping tonight anyway, had too much to get done, but those of us who are still up have been obsessively watching the internet and I've barely gotten anywhere. I guess that lack of productivity doesn't really hurt me given the circumstances......

The email's statement to employees was something to the effect of "use your own judgement, if you choose to stay home it will be excused." That didn't really sound like "campus is closed, 5000 bomb sniffing dogs inbound."
