Boston: One dead, one captured, city re-opened

Am I alone in feeling like the military like lockdown of this city just feels like a bit much?

If this was 24 and a guy was running around with a briefcase nuke, I'd totally get it, but this is one punk with maybe a gun, and maybe a grenade or two. I know that's a serious threat, but I'm just not sure what to make of so many "troops" rolling through the streets of an American City.

It's certainly setting a precedent.

Yea I would say you're alone. They need people off the streets and everything to be as much under control as possible so this guy doesn't get away.

Got someone else on the ground.

Do we know what happened to the old man and robots?

The official language I've been hearing from officials is they're asking people to stay in their homes, not ordering them. Anyone know if the searches are involuntary?

I'm not in the camp of this is all unnecessary to shut down the city.

I am in the camp of shit like this being unnecessary.

the minute another explosion killing people happened after the police pulled people off of him and the world would be crying about why they didn't bring the full force out to catch him

Thanks for posting. Honestly it's a shame we never got a picture like this of Osama Bin Laden. The American public deserves to see these things to give proper closure.

I kind of want to see it but I'm not sure I could bring myself to look. Tosh punked me with the Ware injury out of nowhere and I thought I'd die seeing that. Can't really imagine how I'd react to a presumably bullet-ridden corpse. I did see Saddam and Qaddafi but those weren't particularly gruesome really.

SWAT in your living room RT @MunKYBoii Just got searched for safety measures for the #manhunt in #watertown

I'm sorry but this doesn't look like the USA. Can people refuse to allow them in in this situation?

I realize this has been said before, and that mayhem is the intention of the suspect(s) but can you imagine if the police reacted like this every time three black kids got shot?

I actually know, intellectually why the scale of the operation is the way it is, but it's kind of astounding and I don't really know how to digest it.

That would be an interesting thread topic discussion after this gets resolved.

In there?

Nope.

"you go look"
"nah, i got the last one"
"come on bill i did the last 3"
"yea well, im a detective you're just beat"
"what?! dont pull rank"
"oh yea"
"yea!"
"fine, lets go do this at the same time"
"alright, one, two...."

Did you forget about the two bombs set off and murdered cop? There's no telling what contingencies this guy had laid out with his now dead brother.

Just saw a pic of the dead suspect's body on 4chan(the older brother). Looks legit. Maybe the pic is old news now? Haven't been following the thread. Just got home.

There are too many pictures in this post. You should get rid of some of them for the next page.

sigh

So every single night someone it shot to death in Chicago. Does that mean they should have "troops" rolling through the streets of that city to make sure not one more person gets shot tonight?

Are you really dumb enough to make that comparison?

He's a terrorist, who very recently had grenades and pressure cooker bombs. Yes, this is necessary, because they haven't caught him and god knows what he'd do with people on the streets.

Wow where did that photo of the dead guy come from? Somebody took a picture they certainly weren't supposed to.

You seem to be missing the part where dude and his brother constructed bombs and shredded a crowd of people during the Boston Marathon.

No we should have senators for that. You need to take a time out.

Guy injured 200+ people with 2 bombs; killed an 8 year old kid; murdered 1 cop; seriously injured another. Threw bombs at police officers last night.

The fact that he attempted to murder a thousand+ people at the Boston Marathon on Monday makes this a special case.

Yeah I mean...what did he do anyways...like, only caused the Boston Marathon bombing, killed police, stole cars, committed robbery, shot at police, threw explosive devices. Pfft. Big deal amirite?

Not to mention those "troops" are mostly SWAT members you're seeing. So they're police. SWAT isn't always in the typical black uniform these days.

If they didn't do this, and he killed more innocent people, you'd be complaining they didn't do enough to stop him.

And what's wrong with setting a precedent that bombing/shooting/robbing people will not be tolerated in a city??
