Braces / Ortho...

Have any of you all had any ortho treatment at an older than normal age? I'm 23, and I''m going to nee dto get braces asap to fix my jawline and slight overbite. Ordinarily I wouldn't worry about it (my teeth are crooked in teh upper left of my mouth) because it's not THAT noticeable... It's moreso that my bite is starting to annoy me, and cause pain in my mouth. Anyoe have any stories good or bad?

Nothing too interesting, but I did just get my braces off. I had them once, then they took them off, then about a year or two later they put them back on for some reason. And to make sure everything stays in place, I have permanent retainers on the top of bottom jaw, by the front teeth. Like, actually permanent. I may need them replaced after 10-15 years, but they're not bad, plus no one can tell they're there at all.

I would agree, having braces was a lot better alternative to what I would've needed without them: teeth removed, jaw surgery. Before I started my mouth was really screwed up. Kudos to parents for this one.

Hah, I was an idiot. My folks tried to make me wear a retainier when I was 14 but I was irresponsible and lost it/refused to wear/etx, now I'm paying the price. :(

ARGH.

SO Expensive, how in the heck can the average college student afford such insane pries... Basically if you don't have 5 G's just laying around, you're SOL.

I've never needed braces. My teeth, for the most part, look pretty good. The only problem is my wisdom teeth are growing in crooked and they sometimes hurt. I don't have dental insurance at the time so i can't get them removed!

I think I was borderline in need of braces, but my parents were like "Nah, he doesn't need them." So my teeth are pretty straight, except I've got a gap in between my front teeth. It's not that wide though, but still.

I got my braces off two weeks ago, and got my retainer one week ago. For the most part, I'm glad my teeth are straight and my parents paid for it so I don't have to pay for it. :D

Everyone who wants to straighten their teeth (and that should be everyone) should get braces. These days, they've got lots of clear options that most people won't even notice and they can speed up the time it takes to get your teeth straight. Tom Cruise wore braces and so did I (when I was 22). With straight teeth, you just want an excuse to smile and show it off, even if you were just kicked in the nuts.

My friend got braces when he was around 19-20.
We made fun of him a lot at first, but only a little now.
Good times good times. So yea, it was a lot of fun and I would recommend it.

PS: It's really not that big a deal...better in the long run for sure.

Finally bought a new PSP, but then pushed the demon onto someone else. Jesus.
I had them back in the day on my parent's dime.

That sh!t hurts like hell when they take them off. Nobody warned me about that.
