Not to be a dick but you mostly just expanded out what he just said, the majority of that is "maintaining Steam" and supporting their F2P online multiplayer games. Now, whether that is something a user wants out of Valve is their opinion.

Nope. "Maintenance" is largely just keeping things running, they're doing a bit more than just maintaining Steam, they're developing Steam.
