Fucking awesome!!

demo was great justice fun. I'm actually looking forward to this. In one of those, "if I remember I liked it and I see it at the store I'll buy it" kind of ways.

Demo has some nice visuals and physics, but I wasn't a fan of the whole bobbing movement when you ran and the goofy not scary at all fear stuff. The 3 room tiny demo size didn't do much either to showcase good level design or what not and it was really unoptimized and ran poorly.

I dunno, I was excited until I played it. :\

Technically it looks great, but it has such a cold and stale vibe to it. Looks too shiny and angular I think...kind of like Doom 3...

I think along with STALKER, the graphics just aren't that "wow" anymore. They were a year ago when screens were originally released though.

I too am in the camp of "thought it was cool until I played it". My biggest beef aside from unoptimized code was the unnessecary number of controls to worry about , especially having to actually use medkits. I like FPS games to be kept simple - give me bullet time and lots of weapons , try to scare me if you must but instead of throwing 10 medkits around a level and making me hit a button to use them just give me 3 times as much health and have find em and auto use health kits or at the very least make the medkits automatically use themselves whenever your health gets low.

Too much shit to worry about when all you really should even need is move, loook, shoot , use, jump and crouch.

Come on it was small part of the first level!!! They don't want to spoil the entire by including the second or third level. The demo ran great on my computer and I have a medium range pc, you should have played with settings.

That's crazy! Have you even played the demo? It wowed me, especially the particle effects and all those sparks. This game looks better compared to many next gen FPSs.

Honestly the level design bores me to DEATH. Could it be any more flat? At least Doom3 had some interesting locals with curves. Sewer, office, warehouse. zero interactivity. ZZZZZZZZ

I dunno, I get that kind of gameplay from other games.

If thats what I want then I play quake. However, I don't want all my fps games to be the same (where's the fun in that) I really liked what this game was doing (or trying to do at least). THe bullet time was cool in a first person view. And I liked the physics, what I saw of it at least. My only concern was that they blew their wad on the demo, and the rest of hte game will be balls mouth. Thats why I'm not insanly excited.

I dunno man, I have a pretty high-end PC and had no problems running the game on almost full settings but just wasn't impressed really with the way it played, like Pachinko said, it felt like a chore almost to play through.

There was one wow moment for me and that was the first time one of those larger enemies attacked me with the bullet-time effects, but apart from that, I didn't enjoy the experience.

The latest Condemned screens actually looked on par with F.E.A.R., at least to my eyes. Some areas of Condemned look better, actually. With the way the lighting effects are used, and such.

In this case the term "I'd rather watch paint dry" has significance. HAWT!

True. But even when it ran the way it's supposed to, it doesn't look that great.
Did any of you others get a disjointed kind of feel between yourself and the game world? the shadows, and the way you climbed down that ladder were points in the game that really reminded me that I was playing a video game.

Well people were saying stuff like "If you can run Half-life 2 with everything on high smoothly (30-60fps) you'll be fine." Well I can do that with my Radeon 9800pro but F.E.A.R with everything on runs like 5fps maybe. Turning down stuff gets it to 30-60fps but then it looks like one of the ugliest FPS games I've seen. There is no mid-level balance; that's bad optimizing IMO.

Compared to FEAR yes Doom 3's mechanical backgrounds were more interesting. It had some hulking machinery moving all about. It can't touch Half Life 2 or Far Cry though of course.

I'm really not trying to troll here but I really don't know hardly anything about this game. What makes it so great beyond the beautiful graphics?

The combat is extremely satisfying. The environments literally get ripped to shreds in the gun fights, the AI is fantastic and unpredictable and the weapons have a really good meaty feel to them.

will this game run on my pc at all?

Radeon 9800xt 128mb
2.08gz
512 ram

Double that ram to like 1GB PC3200 ram and don't expect it to look beautiful on a 9800XT you'll be able to run it at 1024x768 with mostly medium settings.

What's causing those huge sparks? Do the bullets explode or something?

A lot of those sparks are from exploding containers I'm guessing? and bullets but the game looks AMAZING in motion.

Bullets hit anything metal, it causes sparks in the game. He's shooting at a metal air vent, hence sparktown.
