Bravely Second: music will be composed by ryo (Supercell), new trailer coming soon

This come from this week's Famitsu, which has apparently leaked already. So Revo won't be composing the music for Bravely Second, due to "scheduling conflicts". There's going to be some returning tracks though, like those for towns.

There's also a new trailer coming in the near future, and the game will get a demo at one point.

On the one hand it's too bad that revo won't compose the OST for the second game as well since I loved it despite not having played the game yet. On the other hand I am very interested in what ryo's take on a game soundtrack will be.

Yeah, with all the silence about Revo it's kinda weird they didn't announce him as soon as possible if he's in.

Dunno what to expect from Ryo, though. I know some Supercell songs but they're not songs I expect to hear in a JRPG.

One thing's for sure: Asano sure like his J-Pop/Rock bands :p

Bit disappointed by this news, but I think we can expect a great soundtrack from ryo. And at least, it'll give Bravely Second a distinct flavour!

SuperCell? Ehhhh. Can't say I've ever heard more than a couple of songs I liked of their's.

That said I hope they prove me wrong and make it a good one.

Bravely Third to be composed by
Hiroyuki Sawano
.

I've literally just lost all of the hype and half of the interest. :( Mostly because that might weaken the chances for another Linked Horizon live DVD. The first one was even more amazing than the game itself.

I think he's a quite talented composer and I am looking forward to seeing him moving away from J-Pop songs for once to compose a soundtrack.

Give me a Hatsune Miku costume and an original song to play in battle while a characters wearing it, and I'll be happy.

Ha ha, you joke, but I really wouldn't be surprised if it turned out like that.

Personally, I found the concert really disappointing, because with a couple of exceptions, it was the same thing as the CD version, just performed live (no special arrangements). Still awesome music, not complaints on that end :)

I didn't ever listen to the CD, jumped straight to the DVD version so no disappointment for me

Let's just hope that this means Revo is composing for another cool thing and there's another cool concert coming. Fingers crossed. But tears shed.

Ah yes, that explains it then.

how soon before Square Enix kills off this IP by making changes fans do not want?

What? This got nothing to do with Squeenix. Revo simply wasn't available for Bravely Second. It's as simple as that.

For those wondering what Ryo (Supercell) has composed, here's the second OP for Guilty Crown. But you can be 100% sure the actual soundtrack will have nothing in common with that song.

It's sad, but I don't actually mind it that much. I like the idea of Bravely being a series with changing composers from the Jpop/Jrock scene. It gives the whole thing a different flavor - and being different yet similar seems to be the point of Bravely Default. It's sad that we won't be getting another concert this way, though.

I wonder if Naotaka Hayashi will be back to write the story.

If Bravely Second is successful the series is here to stay, The biggest hurdle won't be the composer, though, but Bravely Defaul itself. I hope they haven't lost a lot of goodwill and excitement for Bravely Second due to the lukewarm reception to the second half of Bravely Default.

*listens to a few tracks*

Oh typical trash J-pop. Great.

SE already fucking the sequel, where's is Mizuta and the other SE composers that aren't working on anything worthwhile?

Bravely Default's soundtrack was great. I don't know who the new composer(s) is but Youtube will fix that. It's a shame we didn't have the same people working on the soundtrack for the second game.

Just a question based on the reaction to the subject of the OP. S-E does not have many successes lately this IP has charmed many fans and sold 1m worldwide. If people have a negative reaction to a music composer change... I just wonder. Fans have been really hard on what Square Enix does these days. See: wrowa's reply above

Supercell is much loved.....but I don't see it meshing with BD or from the looks of this thread, its fans.

I don't think it's really sensible to expect the soundtrack to be full of J-Pop, just because that's what Supercell does. It's Ryo composing the music, which means it can be entirely different than what he does for Supercell.

It's actually quite intriguing, because as people have pointed out, Ryo has never composed a soundtrack before. I definitely can't wait for that first trailer.

I really hope people will give him a chance, must be tough having to be compared to Revo, especially that awesome BD soundtrack.
