Breath of the Wild II - Planned for November

Somebody got the scoop at an after party? What Nintendo exec would be out there and be dumb enough to talk to a reporter about their plans?

Gonna call BS on this one. Not even Aonuma knows when it's coming out. We haven't even had a single official delay yet. Zelda games usually get like 3 delays.

If true, then it looks like two of the three major console makers will have a blockbuster exclusive AAA RPG for their platform to top off the year.

There had better be a Switch 2 to go along with it. The Switch will be 5 and a half years old by then, I just can't deal with it anymore.

(Remember when we thought BotW2 would be released sooner than a typical Zelda because it's a direct sequel reusing a lot of stuff from the original? Lol. But I hope this means it's actually a full new world etc. If not, I don't know what the hell they've been doing all this time.)

Nothing like the first one which was made by Squaresoft back when they were dropping loads of the best RPG's ever made. Capcom picked up the sequels, didn't compare to the original IMO

Eh I suppose it's possible this happened, if Peer said it I assume he's not just BSing.

However who's to say he wasn't being BSed by whoever or that plans will change?

So yeah taking this with a grain of salt.

Microsoft- Starfield
Nintendo- BOTW2
Sony- ???

God Of War 2, Horizon Zero Dawn 2.... so they'll be just fine.

I'd say FFXVI but who knows when they really plan to have that game release, I don't buy 2022 for a minute lol

Peer is not exactly one of those new era fake insiders, he's the co-founder of IGN when it was N64.com more than two decades ago.

ahhh, that guy. He's honestly a cool dude and a lot of fun to listen to. I used to listen to his Nintendo podcast for a good while.

I thought it would make 2022 until this fucking omrcon or whatever the fuck they named it came out of nowhere. Lockdowns are looking likely again. Which means some games could slip to 2023.

I'm fine they push it to 2023

Nintendo 2022 is pretty stacked

- Pokemon: Arceus
- Kirby: Forgotten Land
- Bayonetta 3
- Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak
- Splatoon 3

Whats taking so long exactly? I thought the whole point of being a direct sequel and using the same world and graphics was to get a sequel out quicker

Maybe they were particularly affected by COVID with this game?

From a first party perspective 2022 looks very very good for Switch. Third party-wise I don't think things look as good as 2021, but of course there's still time left for announcements.

You'd be surprised. Remember how Assassin's Creed Black Flag leaked? The story was so unbelievable, no one took the leadership seriously until months later when it turned out to be completely true.

We thought it was going to be a Majora's Mask "quick sequel" scenario but they obviously want to surpass the first game, so that's a lot of work.

Still, I'm not quite sure what's taking so long? The base gameplay is still there and the world they built the first time with touching up shouldn't take that long. The scope of the game must be way bigger than expected

5 years for a sequel. Same with Xenoblade 3. (Not counting Torna). Bit too long.

I was thinking this would be a switch 2 launch title, but I guess not.

You'll be complaining about the specs of Switch 2 within its first year. Does it really matter? It's Nintendo, just enjoy the game.

If you want to spend money for the sake of it, pick up a Deck.

People have been talking about Switch pro since August 2017.

I think Nintendo is having a really hard time with HD. This doesn't bode well for the future.

I'm not that interested in portable gaming. I am interested in Nintendo games though, and I would like to play them on something that isn't absolutely terrible (it was okay in 2017, it's not okay in 2022).

Switch 2 will likely be terrible as well. That is assuming Nintendo even takes advantage of its power.

It will always be lower resolution and lower frame rate than any other option.

Switch has always had issues (the lost woods in BOTW, or XC2 in portable in the first year).

they're creating new gameplay

This is not going to be botw 1.5

I can't imagine tCOVID helped much. Nintendo doesn't strike me as a company that would do well with work from home, and after the pandemic hit they put a lot of marketing on hold and moved games around quite a bit.

arent they reusing the world from the first game?

TBH, I really dont understand why last gen sequels like BOTW, GOW and Horizon are taking so long. The whole point of making sequels is to get them out quicker. They did all the hard work rebuilding the engine and the level design and combat systems. How do you take 5 years to add some new shit and maybe tell a new story?

I don't think I'd call that stacked. You need two of the three- Mario, Zelda and Metroid, to really consider that stacked.

Honestly I don't understand Nintendo. I don't think there has ever, in the history of the industry, been a bigger perpetrator of software blueballs. The Prime Trilogy could have been dropped last year but they won't do it. How long has BOTW2 been in development? It's the same goddamn engine. They could, if they decided to, push out software at a rate that would capsize Sony but they won't do it. Their fucking N64 expansion pass is a joke. They could upload every major 64 game at literally no additional cost and they won't do it. Microsoft has games that were released yesterday on their GamePass, but Nintendo won't put Majora's Mask on their own VC program. No, let's put Dr. Mario 64 on there, that's what the people want.

I mean they're selling everything they want so their revenue/cost model is clearly top notch but it's so infuriating that they just won't pull the trigger on all this stuff.

GOW and Horizon aren't using the same world, they are taking the appropriate amount of time for a AAA sequel

With BOTW2 I guess it depends how much is new vs reused

If this rumor is true I will be no-lifing it for months since Starfield also launches in November. Neither of these 2 games are short little 8-hour games.

I don't see Gow 2 making 2022.

I hope new hardware releases with this Zelda or I will try and skip it.

Nintendo, the company that has always released its biggest title of the year over Black Friday week since at least Ocarina of Time, is releasing the new Zelda in November?

lets face it, every holiday 2022 release is getting delayed. they will blame it on covid but they will delay it for sure.

If its taking them 5 years to do sequels, they are gonna miss their deadline at least once.
