Breath of the Wild II - Planned for November

lets face it, every holiday 2022 release is getting delayed. they will blame it on covid but they will delay it for sure.

If its taking them 5 years to do sequels, they are gonna miss their deadline at least once.

I think Starfield will make its deadline. If BGS is running behind they will just skip QA testing all together :pie_roffles: :pie_roffles: :pie_roffles:

(Before everyone starts @ing me, I'm kidding)

This is what I've been saying. There has been like 3 major games that have hit their target release date since last year. I add on two months at least to any initial release date at this point.

Cool. I still need to make time to finish the current one.

arent they reusing the world from the first game?

TBH, I really dont understand why last gen sequels like BOTW, GOW and Horizon are taking so long. The whole point of making sequels is to get them out quicker. They did all the hard work rebuilding the engine and the level design and combat systems. How do you take 5 years to add some new shit and maybe tell a new story?

It might because more new things exist in those games then old. Using the same engine doesn't always mean you get a game faster, they can use that extra time to change more, add more etc. As in, it might not take as long as the first time based on designing an engine, doesn't mean they'll cut corners for sequels either.

So none of the games being talked about to my understanding are using the same worlds as in levels.

S0ULZB0URNE S0ULZB0URNE who knows, if we see some massive trailer and gameplay demonstration early in the year after Horizon 2 and GT7 comes out maybe it is indeed a 2022 title, but if they keep with a teaser or something, maybe it really is a 2023 game, its hard to tell with that one tbh.

edit. oh yea I forgot we did get some trailer of it. Yea thats a big maybe. I think it might be on board for a 2022 release indeed as a few things.

1. We did get a trailer
2. its cross gen, as in it looks like it was made for PS4, plays on PS5 type thing.
3. enough in trailer points to lots of it being pretty near complete like the overworld, gameplay elements, I'd maybe be on the fence if it was just some teaser with a voice, but it seems like 2022 might be a pretty solid time frame, but again wouldn't be shocked if it slipped into 2023 and wouldn't mind if it was to get a solid title overall.

I think it might depend on if Starfield releases.

I would love a delay if they dropped the cross gen support.

Splitting hairs? You said god of war and horizon zero dawn are rpg's??

and? The same that even argue this RPG-light concept, also argue against Zelda being an RPG, agured against Fallout 4 being a RPG as claims of it not being a "true" rpg, which means most might as well consider anything listed in that previous post as "non rpgs" or "rpg light" as well.

So yea, I'd say its splitting hairs a bit and enough elements exist to call them that, if they are not "real" or "true" RPG...then most are not even putting out that "real" or "true" AAA RPG next year tbh lol

DLSS Switch.
Pokemon Arceus.
Triangle Strategy.
Advance Wars HD.
Breath of the Wild 2.
Mario Rabbids 2.
3D Kirby.
Splatoon 3.
Bayonetta 3.
Xenoblade 3.
EAD DK.

Switch is going after 49 out of 50 NPD 😝

Logical and from one of the few people in the industry who has been in it so long and has so many ex-employees at Nintendo that it is probably true.
Looking forward to the January/February direct. Should have Kirby in April, Splatoon 3 in July, and Bayonetta in September. I guess we might get a xenoblade game in October or December. We might even get a look at Metroid P4 this year?

I don't think we see a new Switch until early 2024. They will ride out the next two years with special editions and price drops. No reason to rush a console to the market in the current climate, sure people will complain about power not being up to scratch, but MS and PS have to be able to make enough consoles to really cause that to be a concern to the general public.

I don't think I'd call that stacked. You need two of the three- Mario, Zelda and Metroid, to really consider that stacked.

Honestly I don't understand Nintendo. I don't think there has ever, in the history of the industry, been a bigger perpetrator of software blueballs. The Prime Trilogy could have been dropped last year but they won't do it. How long has BOTW2 been in development? It's the same goddamn engine. They could, if they decided to, push out software at a rate that would capsize Sony but they won't do it. Their fucking N64 expansion pass is a joke. They could upload every major 64 game at literally no additional cost and they won't do it. Microsoft has games that were released yesterday on their GamePass, but Nintendo won't put Majora's Mask on their own VC program. No, let's put Dr. Mario 64 on there, that's what the people want.

I mean they're selling everything they want so their revenue/cost model is clearly top notch but it's so infuriating that they just won't pull the trigger on all this stuff.
The 2022 first party line up is something like the below, so I would say its pretty stacked already and we can expect at least 3 more games on top of that:

Q1: Pokémon Legends: Arceus + Triangle Strategy
Q2: Kirby and the Forgotten Land & Advance Wars 1 +2 Reboot Campe
Q3: Splatoon 3 & Bayonetta 3
Q4: BOTW 2

I agree that their handling of retro content is really really bad, terrible even. But in terms of games releases they do publish games at a very good rate. They are one of the most prolific major publishers in the industry and that's one of their big strengths.

I don't care about 99% of that, but agree with your post overall. lol

They put out games at a very solid rate and always have a good amount of titles for the year.

'That's why I appreciate the quantity/variety of their output. It means that even though I don't care about Pokémon, Splatoon or Bayonetta, I can still look forward to Advance Wars, Triangle Strategy and Zelda.

I'm day one on Triangle Strategy, Kirby, Advance Wars, Splatoon 3, Bayonetta 3, and BOTW 2. And yeah, that's just the stuff we know about now. Pretty stacked for me.

You forgot mario + rabbids 2

I'm counting first party only (published by Nintendo). Mario + Rabbids 2 does use a Nintendo IP, but Ubisoft is the publisher so it's third party.

Potentially Nintendo could publish it as a first party title in Japan, but I'm not sure that's been confirmed yet.

I'd bet anything ff16 will beat the pants off of botw2.. the bar is too high for Zelda and the bar is missing for FF16. Certain failure/depression vs motivation, ff has the advantage.

Its going to be exciting to watch and play, I can't wait to try both of them.

Not all the time but it happens. Super Mario RPG was published by Square, Cadence of Hyrule was published by Spike Chunsoft in some places, and both Hyrule Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors were published by Koei Tecmo in Japan.

I hope so, it'll be 5 years of development with the same engine/hyrule template that was used for BOTW. I think that's enough time to create something amazing.
