Brian Wilson Legendary founder of the Beach boys dies at 82

When people talk about the most influential people in music, he should be in the running for the number 1 place. A flawed genius that revolutionised the way artists are represented and treated, and pioneered many recording techniques that changed the way music is made. RIP.

So fucking bummed. Absolute legend. One of, if not the all time great

His greatest achievement was surfs up for me, but so many to choose from

My first thought was "The End of an Era", but that's not the case as long as Paul McCartney is with us. Still, Brian Wilson was a genius and his death is a loss to the world of music. Watch this video of him performing Smile live and you'll be amazed by both the music and the incredible performance of the band.

Dude singlehandedly created the "California Myth" as the leader and primary songwriter for The Beach Boys. From the early 1960s on the state would forever be associated with surfing, sun, pretty girls, and an endless summer. That's one hell of an impact through just a few years of writing hit songs.

The Beach Boys were the first band I ever liked as a kid. My parents used to play their music when I was an infant and I heard them growing up. I Get Around was my favorite.

Just an amazing musician and a wonderful songwriter that's so honest, vulnerable, and introspective:

Really encapsulates so much of my personal feelings and I'm so glad that this song exists.

RIP. he and the Beach Boys are an irreplaceable part of Americana culture.

This was the song that first made me aware of The Beach Boys. It was on Flight of the Navigator and I sang it like crazy when I was 5. My parents overheard me singing it and pulled out their entire album collection of The Beach Boys and I've loved their work ever since. 😢

I got to know the Beach Boys through Flight Of The Navigator also! the song had stuck with me ever since.

Rip. Brian was a musical genius who didn't always have it easy. Between his asshole father, his psychologist and Mike Love, he went through a lot.

Brian had nothing to do with that shite lol
Ahem.. it's got fuckin' John Stamos in the video, and it was a huge hit in 1988 when a seven-year-old horse went on a trip of a lifetime to Disneyworld which basically makes it the greatest vibe and song of all time. I feel sad for you, because I thought everybody would know... a little place like Kokomo. But if you had ever known such a place maybe you'd still have a heart where nothing but the blackest coal now resides.

An unpopular opinion maybe, but The Beach Boys' songs hold the test of time better than the Beatles'.
