Also, we need to start arranging places for the UK-gaf meet-up. Throw your suggestions this-a-way.

Current contenders for locations are London and Nottingham.

If we meet up in London we do this:

1. Meet up at Sloane Square and look down our noses at the nouveau riche
2. Shop at Kings Road/Knightsbridge, buy some designer suits
3. Cream tea at the Ritz
4. Get our eyebrows and tans done at the spa
5. Start the night in Shoreditch for some fun with the commoners
6. End the night at some millionnaires mansion, smoke cigars and laugh heartily

If we meet up in Nottingham we do this:

1. Meet up at Market Square and avoid looking at the naked peasant children dancing in the water
2. Shop at Broadmarsh Shopping Centre, buy some designer tracksuits and a hot-dog
3. Dinner of Chicken and Chips at Dixy Chicken
4. Spit at things and generally be an oaf
5. Start the night having a drink of Chekov Vodka in the carpark at Forest Green, proceed to Oceana
6. End the night sleeping on Dave's sofa whilst listening to Dave bang someone upstairs

Nice topic.

Odd though it may seem, I'd like to register a vote against Nottingham. The nightlife around here is awesome but we're not friendly to out-of-towners. I don't want a GAFfer getting knifed on my watch. Manchester?

Gotta be honest! there was a long list to pick from...

As for meet up, Manchester is easy for me since I live in the centre of it, I think it's a good bet but I would actually throw out Birmingham as my vote, simply so I can get really pissed and not come home and wake the gf, nothing better than having a a shitty hotel room waiting for you after a night out...

Trying to get into King Edward Sixth Form but that is extremely competitive. Need 8+ A* for that which i'm sure am not going to get.

Second choice is Sandon sixth form and third is Moulsham. Moving to a flat near the town centre.

Whereabouts do you live?

PS. I get all warm and fuzzy when i see Suzanna Reid on BBC...

Also, in terms of sites in the OP:

Very.co.uk and asos.com are also good for clothes
eBuyer.com is good for computers, components, TVs etc.
beyondtelevision.co.uk is good if you're considering buying a new TV, but always shop around for big items anyway

Cool. Had a few friends that went to KEGGS (that's what you'll be calling King Edward's Grammar School). I know very little about Sandon other than the name. Grew up in Moulsham, went to their Sixth Form.

Friends and family still live in Chelmsford, but I'm down near Southampton at the moment.

It's a good town I think. Unfortunately when I was your age there wasn't much to do other than park activities, but I think that's pretty much standard in any UK town.

Also I'm definitely up for a London-GAF meetup.

Can we make any meetup known a good number of weeks in advance? Unless you're on one of the main lines into London, it's not always cheap or easy to get there unless you book plenty of time in advance.

A North edition in Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester or Newcastle could have hilarious consequences also.

A female friend of mine is considering doing a degree in Fashion Design there but doesn't know much about it. Is it any good?
Fashion and broadcast subjects from what I've heard are good, but other courses (as I learnt) really aren't.

They've really gone downhill since moving to the new building. For example:

  • No computers (aside from a few in the fashion area), so you're essentially forced to use a laptop.
  • No classrooms (aside from fashion/broadcasting), so you're constantly moving around the building. For what I did (animation) it just wasn't practical at all.
  • Lack of student events (although now that they've had a year to settle it'll probably be better)

Considering she'll be doing fashion I'm sure it'll be fine for her, but if she were doing another course I really wouldn't recommend it.

It's a huge mistake not having any classrooms for courses.
