Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars – Reforged | Review Thread + Mini OT

I'm loving this remaster so far. I played a little bit of the director's cut on the steam back but didn't finish it. I'm playing on story mode for your adventure game Newbies out there. The story Mode is fantastic. The hit system is Awesome It's how.
All modern adventure games should be done My only Two gripes are The?
D c content not being there and The sound.
For the voices are not remastered And sound bad.
But besides that great stuff, pick it up

I'm a bit confused about a specific detail related to the picture the photographer gives you. I've been playing in short bursts, so I might have missed or forgotten some dialogue.

At one point, after receiving the photo, it's said that the picture was taken after the café bombing but I also thought the photographer mentioned it was taken before the explosion

Plus, he had on a full clown suit right?

Or do I still need to figure out this part?

Sorry, I'm pretty new to these kind of games..

The clown dropped nose and make-up in the sewers, climbed the ladder up to the private courtyard.
There he met the old army man who tried to stop him. Clown lost his cardigan during the fight and ran to the door.
Nico probably heard the racket and just had time to take this picture as the man flew.

It's terrible. The game is fantastic. The "remake" is of poop quality. And so is the second. Not only not fixing problems in the original, but also adding new ones such as sound quality, George walking all the way over to something just to say no.

It's been a good while since I've played both so I can't remember everything. But I'm assuming this "reforged" stuff is yet another milk. Why remake a game twice? Because they know the initial ones are crap?

Reforged is absolutely beautiful. Try it.
It has nothing to do with the atrociously bad & cheap past "remasters" made primarily for mobile.
It's a top notch remake. Trust me on this one as original Broken Sword is my favourite point & click game.

That's good to know. Then why did they do it twice? Are they the same people?

Charles wanted to revisit the original and make a proper remake with repainted backgrounds, UI and other QoL updates. He wasn't happy with how the Directors Cut turned out and the fan reception to it, so he wanted to do right by the original. I played through Reforged just a couple of days ago and it's beautiful. Very true to the original and definitely worth your time if you love Shadow of the Templars.

The "Director's kinda cut" was released on 2009 so there's been 12-13 years in between the start of reforged work lol.
Director's cut was not a remake. They just released unseen stuff like Nico parts, simplified a lot of stuff, removed some interactions to prevent your everyday fellow to get lost.
Resolution was still 640X480 or 800X600.

The Reforged is a remake. They've redrawn the whole game and reorchestrated ost. The only kept stuff is the original voiceover quality as it was recorded in that low quality in the first place so no possibility to improve this point apart from recasting everything lol.

I just wish they'd have given us the nico parts as bonus materials. For the sake of having the whole produced content. I liked some of it.

I hope they will announce Broken Sword 2 soon. I have the og in my Steam Library but i'm waiting for the Reforged version.
Looking for it as well. If they started working on it after wrapping up BS1 Reforged it's quite safe to assume it could launch in 2026. I'd look forward for a potential announcement during gamescom, but I think it's too early so I keep my expectations for it low lol

Smoking Mirrors Reforged would be amazing. I love that game even more than the first.
Revolution posted a video last year on their yt where Cecil was looking at sketches from BS1 Reforged and they ended it with him looking at a sketch of George's outfit from Broken Sword 2 and making a coy face. It's very safe to assume it's coming

I see. Sorry it's all just one angry blur to me. Seeing you all vouch for the reforged edition fills me with determination. Thank you.
