Bundles of Awesome - The Official WiiWare Discussion Thread

So how is Pop?

I think it's quite good. Pretty challenging too, makes WiiPlay or Link's XBow look pretty bad. 16 stages in regular mode. Screen scrolls a different way and speeds up after each level. Great combo system and power-up items. Plus online leaderboards and an advanced mode I haven't even touched. There's also 1-4 player multiplayer. Personally I've been having fun playing 2 player by myself, dual weilding :)

All the Dr Mario talk in this thread got me thinking it was out in the states.

It's not, is it?
Dunno.
Maybe it's only out in Europe, there's not a lot of people playing it online.

Buy it when it comes out in the USA.

I'll be online in Dr. Mario now if someone [anyone, even with the demo] wants to play me.
Also: is it true that you could download the demo from Wii Shop but they removed it?

Well, yeah. Of course I'm going to buy it. I just need to find out if it's there for me to buy. ;) I'll go and check in a while.

Can't be quoted enough.

I have it and LostWinds only, and while everybody is calling LostWinds awesome I would say Toki Tori is easily better.

Truth.

I even found Lost Winds boring, and im about 5 minutes into it where I am at the Slime Sewers on Toki Tori, easy few hours with the game. =D

FFCC, will start when I finish Toki Tori - just seems like a huge game :D

So if i have Dr. Mario and Lost Winds the next game i should buy is Toki Tori, right?
I won't buy FF: CC, i think. 15 € + DLC = No buy.

decent. offers a single type of experience, but it's polished. also, the competitive aspect is very nice, made it to the 2k-something place on my first seating, which means people are actually serious about this game.

Oh, how's Defend your Castle by the way?
It's not avaiable in Europe...

It's pretty fun with multiple people, though I personally didn't care for it so much whilst playing it alone. It's a good game though. It's not Lost Winds or MLAAK good, but it's definitely nice if you're wanting another multiplayer game.

High five!

Lost Wind is my only purchase but i'm not deceived.
Toki Tori = day one.

=( I want online multiplayer in Defend your Castle.

Oh well, thanks for the explanation.

Could someone send me the UK Dr Mario demo please?
I'm thinking about buying it, but I just got LostWinds & am worried about using too much space... :lol

unfortunately the only loser in that equation is you. :(

FF:CC+DLC=same value and fun as a full disc-based release.

Easily the best overall game of the launch. Bitching about this is like bitching that Okami isn't worth $30 if it were on DLC-only just because it was downloadable only.

I deleted all of my Virtual Console games before WiiWare launched.
I suggest you do the same.

@borghe: I'll think about it, maybe in the future.

I've downloaded Toki Tori and can also contribute to the praise, it's ace :D I'd definitely reccomend it to anyone who likes Lemmings, Mario vs Donkey Kong or Adventures of Lolo, a really great little action puzzler. Nice production values as well, the art style is appealing (And at 480p!) and the music's very charming as well.

I just hope I don't finish it too soon, but I've noticed the difficulty going up so I assume it'll be a big challenge completing every level.

So I'm getting positive vibes here, are people mostly positive about WiiWare in general?

(Storage issues aside of course).

Me personally, loving Lost Winds. :D

The potential for this service is really amazing, if this is the start I look forward to the future in much anticipation.

I'm happy (very happy) with the content. Obviously, the Wii Store isn't the best interface, and there remain storage issues.

Hopefully the storage issues will see a solution in the coming weeks or months, particularly now that Nintendo potentially sees the amount of free space everyone has. I can live with the slow Wii Store I suppose.

Loving it. Especially now that I'm finally seeing more 3rd party games that don't completely suck and actually do something interesting with the system's controls.

Going by my Toki Tori and Dr Mario WiFi demo play, I'm very impressed. I could see some of the Wii's best experiences being on WiiWare, it's such a great service that has the potential to be great. Heck it already is!
The only problems are the possibility of steep prices (I'd never pay £7 for Critter Roundup and can't bring myself to pay £5.60 for Star Soldier R), the daft storage solution and the fact that the light quality check boundaries will see a lot of tosh going up there. But I'm willing to wade through the tosh if it means more games like Toki Tori!

3rd world, 4th level of toki tori, anyone got any hints? You've only got 6 blocks and 2 bridges, it seems impossible seeing as there is slime blocking your path everywhere.

The game is awesome btw, buy it.

:lol Everybody seems to get stuck on that one.

It is NOT possible to get the top eggs first and then the bottom two. Think of a not so obvious way to go down first and then get back up.

Right at launch, I bought Lost Winds (loved it), Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (loving it), and I'll probably get Toki Tori soon, as I'm liking what I'm hearing of it... Seems like one pretty awesome launch so far :D .

Ah! I need to try this in Defend Your Castle as well.

Also, Heroic is hard. Very hard.

Beer Pong to WiiWare
Gulp.

May 21, 2008 - JV Games Inc. is pleased to announce Frat Party Games – Beer Pong. Beer Pong, a game born on a college campus in the early 80s, has grown from a college drinking game to a competitive sport in bars across the country. In mid June 2008, Beer Pong is going to be available for WiiWare, Frat Party Games – Beer Pong is the first slated game in the Frat Party Games™ series.

Featuring two distinct competitive games, Frat Party Games – Beer Pong will offer a traditional tournament-style game of Beer Pong for one to four players and Speed Pong, during which two to three players compete at the same time, each trying to be the first to eliminate all of his or her cups.

Frat Party Games – Beer Pong has been designed exclusively for WiiWare, with accurate and easy to use controls. Frat Party Games – Beer Pong will feature three different play environments and allow players to choose from multiple tabletops to enhance the playing environment.

"Beer Pong is quickly becoming a worldwide sensation, from high-stakes competitions being held here in Las Vegas to more and more establishments creating Beer Pong environments to attract new customers," says JV Games VP Jag Jaeger. "Being Beer Pong players ourselves, we realized this is a game niche yet to be filled, and the Wii® is the perfect system to replicate the game. We created a very accurate and realistic throw system. No buttons to time your throw with; just hold the Wii Remote like you would a normal ball and throw."

Early response has been overwhelming. The Frat Party Games MySpace site (www.myspace.com/fratpartygames) experienced much activity, and staff is having a hard time keeping up with e-mail inquiries. "People are anxious to get their hands on the game," Jaeger says.

JV Games, Inc. is an electronic entertainment company that develops computer, console, and handheld video games. Headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada; JV Games has been developing premier titles since 1989.

If they implement that beirut game well enough, it could be an excellent replacement in small quarters where you can't fit a full table!

I hope Toki Tori and Dr. Mario make it to the next US update.

And for all thos on the fence for FFCC, like I was -- the game is awesome. Totally worth it, never mind the DLC.

So is Toki Tori a remake of the gameboy game or is it original?
Both. It plays exactly the same as the previous two games (There's also Eggbert on the MSX) and has about 35 levels from them, but there's also 35 new levels. Also completely new music (No remixes) and of course a graphical overhaul.

Toki Tori + LostWinds or Dr. Mario.
Lost Winds, looks great, I guess I'll take that and keep the other 1000 points to see if they add anything worthwhile tonight. I would kick myself if I spend all my points and they add something like Majora's Mask:lol
