Burnout Legends - 1up.com review

Has a company ever released 2 games with this much media acclaim on the same day before?

EDIT: Barring a system launch day I guess. (though I can't think of any two games that even did that)

If you have a PSP owning pal who doubts the allure of Burnout's charms, the game also features the digital equivalent of drug dealing as it allows you zap a demo version of the game to another player and then play head-to-head against them.

Burnout Legends is certainly the best racing game on PSP, and let's face it, it's up against plenty of competition.

Portable gaming, rise from the ghetto! :D

I wish someone would do a Revenge Vs Legends thing...I want both games but I can really only afford one and I don't know which one to go with.

Damn it. I'll be buying Legends on Wednesday, looks like. I really don't want to spend $50 on a PSP game, but all these great reviews aren't exactly helping me to hold off..

Here you go. If you want a portable version of Burnout that has tracks and cars from 1,2, and 3, get Burnout Legends.

If you want a totally new burnout experiance, get Burnout Revenge.

Both games are awesome. You can't go wrong with either.

Yes! Sony has just barely avoided the record Nintendo and the DS held (earlier this year) for longest period of time between games people actually wanna play. Score :)

Each copy of the game ships with five of a possible 25 unlockable cars randomly available. The only way to get your hands on the other 20 is to play against other players over an ad hoc connection. Cute.

HAWT!!! Now to convince my brother to buy this game.

Huh. Legends was always looking a little rushed to me in development. This review glosses over or ignores things I'd be more interested to know about. I think I'll have to wait to see more impressions.

Does that mean that you have to play with the cars that you don't have, or simply that you have to play anybody, ie, if you and a friend both got the same selection of cars but played each other, would you unlock the other vehicles. I've never seen that clarified.

Not that it matters, this is a day 1 purchase for, taking precedence over Revenge if I need to save some money.

The game is definitely rushed. A lot of glitches. ;)
Or maybe it's just your pirated copy.

gamestop/eb should have it available for purchase tomorrow, right?

I called my local EB and they said wed. Oddly, my brother's friend has had a copy for like 3 days but his store is too far from me.

DAMN YOU CRITERION! I didnt want to decide between this and Revenge, but this is looking too enticing. I really dont want to support EA twice on the same day! Why do you need to make two great games on one day? To torture me? WHY!

But what a great problem to have:)

9.5 is probably a bit high for it, but it's gonna rule. I think I'll just get Revenge first though and Legends later on. Screw waiting for the 360 Revenge.

Legends should have had online play btw.

So in this post we learned that Zeo will do/thinks...

1.) Abandoned buying Burnout Legends PSP now like he said he was! Will get it "later on." Doesn't want to sully his poor, unplayed PSP with this title. Appearances!

2.) "Screw waiting for 360 Revenge"

3.) Legends should have online play.

4.) 9.5 is "probably" too high for a game Zeo has never played.

Yes, you see, I have every right to say "probably". That would be where the "probably" comes in. It's a guess, my friend. Now, if I said "definitely", it would be a different story. (And since we all know it's a mix of Burnout 1-3 stages but with more of Burnout 3's gameplay, I think it's safe to say anyone who has played the series before has a good idea how it plays.)

I have not "abandoned" buying Burnout Legends. I have a little issue that some people have called "money". Therefore I can't buy every game the moment it comes out! Oh, I do want Legends very badly, but sadly wanting something does not get me something. So I decided, since I can only get one game right now, to get Revenge, instead of waiting until early 2006 like I had originally planned.

ROOFLES

quack quack quack
*BANG!*
*flutter, flutter*
*thump*

Of course 9.5 is too high for mighty Zeo. He predicted a 8.4 at IGN, and we all know IGN overrates games. So obviously Zeo was wishing for a score below 8.4!

Obviously!

Last week I said that the GS score seemed to me a bit high judging from the bad comments I have read. Having played it myself (local store stand booth) I have to said that they are pretty understandable. Awesome game from the graphical and playable viewpoint. The Soundtrack is the only point I didn't like.

I loved it, I see why It got a 9.5 the only thing I hated about it was it has some real shitty slowdown where there was 5 or 6 cars crunching against a wall. Other than that the loading times were good and the graphics looked fine as hell.

in fact, burnout legends was developed by EA chertsey, not criterion ;)
Besides the original question was asking if any company released any two games of critical acclaim on the same day. So Prime/Fusion definetly qualifies.
