Burnout Paradise = $8 on PSN RIGHT NOW. Buy it or get banned.

Definitely one of my favorite games this gen. I put 200+ hours and I still pop it in now and then. I'm considering doing it all over again on a new profile. Still don't have the plat because I never got the meet 8 players in the baseball stadium trophy.

My question is: where do you get all the free time to have 72 Plats? Seriously, I'm jealous, tell me. Do you know of some other dimension that has more hours per day?

Unemployed, wait for deals, had a Gamefly (rental service) for 3+ years

Also owning this helps:

Eh... Got the game from PS+ already, so I don't think I'm going to buy the game just for all of the cars pre-unlocked with a few bonuses. Probably will pick up the Big Surf Island though!

I would get this if I could "add funds" to my "PSN Wallet" from my credit card, but alas it seems that isn't possible at the moment. Fucking stupid system.

I went ahead and jumped on this for that price. I am not the biggest racing game fan, but I do enjoy the genre from time to time when the mood takes me and this game feels like it was made for someone like me. You can just ride around and blow off some steam and do events at your leisure or go online. Very addictive so far and is a nice change of pace for sure.

You finally have your GAF account activated and you get banned for this? Tough break.

The thread title isn't serious

Is the Big Surf Island addon worth $11? I'd essentially be playing Burnout Paradise again just for that.

It's just $2.99 now according to EA's Matt Webster.

Ooh, tempting.

This or wait for Journey (when it comes out)

Also, sorry if it's been answered already, but I got Burnout from the EU store thanks to PS+, if I get this from the US store, I have to download it again right?

I know the saves will not work and that it will use the same set of trophies.

He probably has the game on PC so he'd have to buy the game on PSN ($8) and the expansion ($3) in order to play it.

1. Buy $10 PSN Card
2. Find someone you trust with your info for your account, if not I can help /devious, just kidding lol
3. Give code to said person, get them to show proof by pictures or if friend buddy, trust
4. Person logs in buys Game package, puts it in your DL list
5. Deactivates account
6. ????????
7. Profit! when you get back your dead PS3 or if you buy a new one, tada you have it in your list

Maybe not my favorite game ever, but the one I spent the most time playing (102% and too many hours online) and discussing (biggest poster by far in the OT even though I only got a PS3 and the game in September '08). If I had the time and the HDD space, I'd do it all over again, that's how fun it was. I even convinced my brother to buy a PS3 just for this game! Man, the wait for Big Surf Island info was torture... but to finally drive through these tollbooths was awesome :D

I already have this for 360 and have 140 hours logged into it (although I haven't played in a few years). Am I still banned?

EDIT: Oh god I thank this thread for making me play this again. Popped it in the 360 and downloaded Big Surf Island. I love this game.

100%'d it twice on

. Is it worth getting a console version just for the Big Surf (I don't own a PS3 but it's pretty cheap on 360 too)?

Bought a PSN card today specifically to buy this, only to find out that the sale is over. Now I feel like a retard. How long do these sales typically last? I had been under the impression that it was for a week.

I just checked the store and it's right there under New Releases > Special Offers > Burnout Paradise. Are you sure you're checking the NA store?

Bought, but not looking forward to redoing everything because my disc save won't work with the PSN version of the game.

I searched for Burnout Paradise under "Games", and it was listed for $19.99. Is the discount only available under the Special Offers tab?

Dunno why I bought this, not really into racing games. Thought it'd be a good buy even at that price but I don't see myself playing it anymore in preference to some of the other games I have access to.

No local multiplier sets the nail in the coffin, most probably going to be untouched for a very very long time.

looks like it as that's where i found it finally.

and as expected i will have to start over, oh well

The main catalysts for my interest in the game are threefold: one, it's one of Suda 51's favoite games, and Suda 51 is one of my favorite designers, so if he praises a game to high heaven I'll probably check it out; two, I tried a demo of the game last summer in France, and it was - more specifically, crashing my car was - a hell of a lot of fun; and three, I've been thinking lately that games might be making us excessively goal-oriented, focusing on the destination to the exclusion of the journey, and I heard that Burnout Paradise, while it does have objectives, is just as much about driving around the city, taking in the scenery, crashing your car, and doing whatever fun thing there is around you to do. So in the interest of supporting games that encourage aimlessness, I used the PSN card I bought to purchase this and Noby Noby Boy. Impressions forthcoming.

run a search for "burnout plus"
There's a separate $7.99 package that's a bit harder to find

Incredulous that my save from the disc version wont work with the download version. Why? Just totally insane, what a waste.

Will Big Surf even work with both?

godddddd this is so fucking good, easily the best $8 I will ever spend.
Agreed, I hated the demo of Burnout Paradise when it first came out, but now it's clicking for me. I was mainly upset it wasn't like Takedown when first announced, but Road Rage events take care iof that craving.

Forget about save data from disc. Even the data from another region's PSN copy won't work.

Yeah I'm over it. Restarting as I type this. It's a great game and I just throw it on to chill out with custom soundttacks so whatever.

I assume the DLC will work with my disc version though?

When I get far enough in the digital version I'm going to pass the disc version along to my dad which was my original intention anyway.

I wish I can do that. But I dread the idea of having to restart all 100+ races just to get to the Burnout License. :(

Just a note, this is still on sale for $8. Bought it today. Came with 1GB of updates after the fact (!) All the other DLC has jumped back to regular price, however.

If anyone is working on that timed challenge trophy feel free to ad me. I was almost done with it when my save got corrupted and I lost ALL my progress in the game. Half the people online seemed to be un-cooperative jerks who are too busy smashing into each other or just getting lost somewhere on the other side of the map.

I guess I got the DLC half-price? I saw that Big Surf Island was around $2.99 when the sale started. By the time I bought it the price was hiked to $4.99 but it's still better than the original price which is about $11, if I'm not wrong.

Question though:

My original Burnout save files is the European PS+ free game. What will happen if I play the US one after the Euro version expire? Will my trophy disappear? And will the new save file just exist co-currently with the old one?

Your trophies are fine, but different countries save files aren't compatible with the US ver, so you'll lose all your stats and car unlocks. I got most of my trophies through the free UK PS+ version too, but lost all my progress when I bought the US one on sale. So I'm working on that timed challenge trophy again. The worst part is after a weekend of working on Big Surf Island and some Timed Challenges, my US save file got corrupted and I lost everything AGAIN.

The US save file and the UK file both co-exist on your PS3, but you can only use the US save file with the US game and the UK file with the UK game.

Same here. I wasn't expecting to like this enough to want the DLC, but it's a way more fun than I expected.

Thanks man. I don't mind starting all over (I guess) as long as the trophies are intact. And it's good to know the UK save file will stay there.

LOVE this game so much. I'm almost done with the on-disc trophies. But, could someone please add me (PSN: CecilMcW00t) so I can send you an invite for the online trophy? You don't even have to accept, but you do have to be in-game so I can send it to you.

Have yet to play a racing game this gen that could top Burnout Paradise, though pure fun factor Hot Pursuit came damn close. Nothing beats random chilling 8 person multiplayer.

because of this thread, i bought this game and have already got the platinum trophy. this is one of the best games i have ever played (i even hate racing games).

are there any other open world racing games worth checking out? midnight club la?

oh for the love of…just found out about the 10 Timed Challenges trophy glitch! Spent a good chunk of the day today trying to corral people into co-operating and getting 10 of these things done…turns out if I did any bike challenges before finishing these the trophy doesn't unlock!

Gonna have to back up my save and start a new game, and go through all that "co-op" fun all over again!

I bought Midnight Club LA last year, but ended up selling it a few months later.
It's VERY difficult, though the vehicle customization is pretty cool. Anyway, I'm waiting to see how Driver LA turns out.

Saw the thread title. Was happy.

Realized it's a thread from more than a month ago. Sad..

Or is this deal still active?

Edit: I guess not. What happened to the great deals on PSN anyway. Maybe I don't check often enough, but I hardly see any.
