Do Not Build a PC right now!

my pc is about to blow up, in australia everything is always expensive anyway (and constantly going up), so if i can find some decent sales around mid year for a new system it will be my last pc for a long long time

I could actually see PC hw getting cheaper in the rest of the world. If companies don't want to ship already manufactured products to the US because of tariffs uncertainty, they'll have to sell (or rather: dump) those items in the rest of the world to get their money back. Companies that manufacture or assemble their products in China are facing 104% tariffs and really have no other choice at the moment.

If you're in the US, I'd buy now before the Tariffs come into full swing. And that's not just PC's, if you're in need of a new phone, console etc that are imported.

Elsewhere idk, it might be worth looking into as AiB and manufacturers could raise prices WW due to the situation in the US.

Yep. Nvidia is from US but GPU's parts and manufacturing are mostly based in Asian countries.

If you are from US - buy now (before tariffs effect)
Rest of the world - probably doesn't matter that much?

PS5 Pro is not that bad value right now vs. overpriced pc parts but it's not exactly selling like hot cakes (like GPUs) so price of it should remain stable in near future.

Still running a 1080Ti / 8700K.

Was waiting for the RTX 5000 series, but those turned out to be crap, plus prices are insane at the moment, so I'll hang on a bit longer. Can still comfortably play my backlog at mostly 1440p/60fps anyway.

i hope youre right but i dont know, feels like what goes up generally does not come back down, i cant get the cost of a possible build below $3000 and even that seems crazy to me

same except a 2070, i too was waiting for the new cards but was kind of disappointed, but to be honest I just want to play, the "ai/fake frame" stuff doesnt bother me. I just think they should be a lot cheaper, the prices are nonsense. I wont go higher than a 5070.

I guess this thread is just about USA, but i must say that after some terrible months, there are some good premounted PC offers with a 5070 for 1100-1200€.

Can't say the same for PC's with 16GB graphic cards yet, AMD ones are still overpriced versus it's MSRP, and same goes for the 5070ti, things should get better in 1-2 months for these i guess.
I have just seen one premounted PC with a 5070 for less than 1100€, is that GPU good enough? I was waiting for lower prices but given the current situation it may be a while until I see something as cheap as this

Even with this MOSTLY impacting just the US, companies are going to raise prices world wide to try and compensate for the lost sales.

Prepared to to screwed over global economy

Yeah, anybody not from the US thinking this will help them is naive. What hurts us will hurt you by extension unfortunately.

Building an adequate gaming PC is way more expensive than it used to be. I remember in 2014 I built a full tower with an AMD APU for a little over $400. A few months later I payed $160 for a mid-range AMD GPU. The PC could play anything and everything, plus do a decent job with productivity. I wound up selling it and going PS4 for a few years before reverting back in 2019. In 2025 just the equivalent tier GPU as my 2014 rig is going for more than the price of the APU tower, before factoring in the tariff madness. I've been saying for years that for strictly gaming, consoles make more logical sense, and that's coming from someone that greatly prefers the flexibility of PC.

It's a very solid one, yes, there'll be games that will force you to lower some VRAM demanding stuff due to the card "only" having 12GB, but for a 1100€ build, its great, and the technology will help a lot, DLSS4 is incredible and Framegen can help you on CPU demanding games (great tech in these scenarios, still good on the rest, but not as good imo as when you are GPU bottlenecked)

Its amazing that the OP basically managed to give the worst advice possible ahead of trade war impacting the store shelves. Takes a special kind of skill :messenger_tears_of_joy:
No it's people like you that are short sited. As I have already said, initially prices will increase. Give it some time and the prices may drop and even further than they currently are. We don't know either way. You are just assuming it will have a total negative impact. The liberal news pushes that bullshit.

Consoles are more expensive too, especially a certain Pro...
