Holy SHIT at those DS graphics.

PSP so f-cking owned. Criterion > *

;p

Edit - It does look really nice, though. :)

I can't wait for this title, from the demo game play has been improved much over the last one, this is more fast, frantic and brutal in the battling between you and your rivals. Definitely going to buy this one on day 1.

Woah, sparktastic.

Is there any news on the X360 version, or is EA gonna play the "keep it under wraps then release special X360 version info after ps2 and xbox versions sell shit-tons?"

I played the Burnout Revenge demo on my Xbox Madden 06 disc today. FUCKING HAWT. This is the first Burnout experience I've had. The game is insane. Huge jumps, smashing around, burning across the road. Crazy, crazy fun!

Isn't the PSP version a recompilation of the first three burnout games with all the new gameplay enhancements? If so I'll probably pick it up (Unless it forces me to upgrade my firmware!). I'll probably pick up Revenge for Xbox. Good stuff.

Classic EA "screenshots":

- 4x the resolution
- Antialiasing
- from SDK framebuffer
- not ingame gameplay

Unless these are from 360

The in game demo looks close to these pics. I'd say these are a little more touched up but it is close.

Classic EA? EA rarely releases screenshots like this...

In this case, they paint the game in a poor light. BR doesn't look that hot in stills, especially high-res stills that allow you to see through their smoke and mirrors. In motion, however, it looks absolutely amazing. These looks like they are from an inferior game...

I think it still looks stunning in those pics, and having played Burnout 3, it'll probably look even better in motion.

The only thing I'm protesting is the tendency not to release pixel-per-pixel screens from ingame, but instead up-resed stuff with crazy antialiasing that isn't going to be there. I know it makes perfect marketing sense to the casuals, but still, it annoys me. The worst I've seen was Tecmo, who even remade the HUD of NG for screenshots in Photoshop. THQ used to do it a lot, too.

The thing is, in this case, I think the high-resolution and AA actually HURT the image of the game. Burnout sports a decent amount of detail, but a lot of things are not meant to be focused on due to the way the game looks in motion. These shots reveal WAYYY too much detail that we really shouldn't be looking at.

Umm do you remember that 1280x960 Halo 2 shots? Or Ninja Gaiden? Or MGS3? Everyone fakes this shit.

Engine-rendered hi-res shots like this really only make sense in print magazines. It's a shame we get to see them so much on our (relatively) low-res computer screens.

I do! See my post above, I refer to Ninja Gaiden. Wrong thread to rant about it, I know.

I've never palyed a Burnout before, until yesterday. The Madden demo for this game was so good.

Yes, I knew Madden was good for something! :D

We don't have to put up with the shit, and we especially don't have to allow idiots to use them in comparison with next gen consoles. I also know that the few companies that do release real screenshots get dissed almost every single time, and that just ain't right. And that one guy is right, Tecmo is the worst at this, but they are the ones who really started it on the Dreamcast/Naomi.

That said, Burnout Revenge is going to look great without the doctoring, just sad and pathetic companies are forced to lie to the public, who ofcourse wants and expects to be lied to. Not to mention their partners in crime, the willing gaming media.

Now I think Tecmo is one of the worst publishers/developers in the industry (save of course the team behind Fatal Frame), but Tecmo didn't start ANYTHING. This method has been around forever. Remember the FFVII commercials?

GOTY 2005.

Just like BO3 was GOTY 2004.

EA bought a winner.

In fact, in honor of reading this thread, I just went back and played BO3 for the last hour or so.

Can't wait til Sept 12th.

Looks fantastic. Criterion are amazing. Speaking of Criterion, what happen to their other game Black?

It's like it's all about Burnout nonstop. Burnout Legends, Burnout Revenge.....Black looked and sounded pretty sweet too.

I was thinking, ah, I can wait for a price drop on another one. Then I played that demo :o

Day one purchase now.

Black is 2006 now, I think :(

Still no drivers I see. :)

I played the Best Buy demo and thought it was fuck amazing. Though, kind of easy. Do the past Burnouts have a decent difficulty level?

These screens are not representative of the game I played at E3 on Xbox.

Think more like Burnout 3 with marginally better graphics.

Is it just me, or does everyone E.A executive meet go along the lines of,

"Yo steve, we got four teams freed up. What's we developing homie?"

"First off, you're white. Deal with it. Second off, I think we need to redefine gaming."

"Yeah but dave, wouldn't it be easier to just change the title and simply pretend we redefined gaming?"

"...I can find no flaw to that logic."

"Drinks on me!"

Sorry but, I liked burnout. they've done nothing but bitchslap it into who-gives-a-fuck-stance.

How do you know Steve?!

And this is how it`ll look during gameplay.

Not quite as exciting.
BTW, how the hell did this truly average game (BO3) get a 9.5 at Gamespot? Bah. BAH!

Because it deserved it perhaps?

A good game, good graphics and the most important thing it was FUN!

Because it wasn't average and it's one of the best racing games this gen?

Just maybe.

For one thing, no, that's not how it will look during gameplay. That isn't a progressive scan capture, so HD owners will see better image quality (there is a massive difference between that and what I've played on my own set).

For non-HD owners, it will still look better as the "flaws" of an analog TV will hide many flaws. The image looks much nicer than that...

I spent a good while with the demo last night (on PS2) and was wowed to say the least.

Revenge looks SO much better than BO3, it's not even funny. Granted, some of it is certainly due to the new art direction, but the difference is dramatic.

My girlfriend took one look and shouted, "Oh my God, look at that! Look at the colors! This looks so much better than the other game!" Although part of her reaction may have been to the sparks, which really light up the screen compared to my Xbox version of BO3. :lol

So when you crash, do you have to use your crashbreaker right away or can you aftertouch for a bit and then blow it.

You can aftertouch it before using the crashbreaker in racing. I got so used to the demo that I was doing a race in BO3 today and when I wrecked I tried doing the crashbreaker. :lol Suffice to say, it didnt work. Stoopid me.

I cannot wait for this game. It is nice to see so many people excited about a solid, fun racing game that isnt all about tricking out the car and adding neon lights to it. The store I work at is all about the Midnight Club and NFS series, but having the demo for Revenge up for a week and people are now buying BO3 all the time to get ready for Revenge.

Cant wait...the only problem is since money will be tight, do I get revenge or legends on that day?
