Sure you can. Chinaman is pretty racist. But so is "whoop that white boy's ass" or whatever the girl says. There's douches on both sides here. :shrug

Indeed.

Pretty sure I pointed that out within several posts, 90% of the people on that bus are definitely ignorant douches.

not trying to start a debate but racism isn't calling someone pinky or the n word, being racist isn't that simple. now there is racial prejudice which everyone is and stereotypes but racism is the system of racial subjugation against the so called inferior race. the only reason im typing this is i see ppl under the wrong idea of what racist and racism mean. the black dude shouldnt have got in that white guys face even though the white dude could have disrespected him. im black and i agree that the black guy shouldnt have gotten in the white guys face but should have told him off and that be the end of it.

I think the word you're looking for is discrimination. Racism is the thought, discrimination is the act.

Descrimination requires power, be it physical, numerical, social, or financial.

Wow. :lol

Lesson to be learned - do not fuck with large, crazy old people on a bus wearing shirts like "I AM A MOTHERFUCKER". There is a good chance you will get your shit stomped.

Wow, holy shit. That second vid made him look even more badass. He crushed his enemies, he saw them driven before him, he witnessed the lamentations of their women. Then he fucking went beast and flipped out afterward.

So wait, did they follow him off the bus??? If so that is pretty messed up as well. He already beat your ass, leave him alone.

My guess is someone else outside the bus caught it on camera phone. Who doesn't have a camera phone these days?

This is is better than Cloverfield for sure! :lol

I'm not going into the whole which racist was worst, as clearly all involved look terrible here.

But that second clip reminds me of something I haven't seen for years, and that's a provoked Vietnam Veteran. It's actually really, really sad--watch closely and you can see the barely-restrained rage/fear as flashbacks start to hit him.

This whole thing is awful.

Really this partly came down to balance. the younger guy was worried about losing his balance on the moving bus, and he was holding the metal bar, while the old guy kept both hands free. Holding onto that bar took away the young guys ability to fight back or defend himself at all. It kept him stationary and defenseless long enough to get rocked by some big punches.

also, the young guy threw one halfhearted punch and then backed away, while the old dude stayed on offense once he landed his first shot, and just kept throwing until the other dude went down, which is always the smart thing to do.

The young guy also had a severe size and reach disadvantage, which played a role.

edit// Apparently I came off as pompous in this post (or something) based on some of the following comments. if so, that is to be expected because I do it in real life too, but I'm actually just very analytical, and I tend to explain things reflexively, even when they are obvious to everybody. If you find my behavior shocking, I am sorry about that. If you show me a video of somebody frying eggs, I will proceed to break it down and point out the strategic advantages or disadvantages of their method. I realize that none of this information is particularly enlightening, and that it's all rather obvious to anyone who watched the video, so please don't take offense to the tone.

This picture? uhh I can explain really!
Hah, Amber Lamps. That was great.

This is one of those things where you are in the moment of the internet as it's happening, and it's fun. But in retrospect, it'll end up really not being that big of a deal. Still, the SF gifs with "GTFO" or "BANNED" would be great for some facepalm action in the coming weeks and months.

Excellent analysis. So the old guy was bigger, stronger and better at fighting and the younger guy was bad at fighting, too small to take on that big guy and outmatched. I didn't notice any of this until I read your breakdown.

So true, keeping one hand on a stationary object during a fight will put one at a disadvantage. Though most people would have just let go of the bar after the first punch.

Sooo 4chan is planning on getting the mans bag returned to him. They have already found out the ladies name who took the video/bag and have all her info posted. They also posted the name of the girl in the purple tights. Never doubt /b/ ever.
Now how the hell did they get headphone's real name? :lol
Someone just recognize her?
4chan is scary. At least when they do stuff like this it is in good manners though.

Just commenting, not really concerned whether you found it helpful or not, but I'm glad i was able to educate you a little bit.

The main point was the aspect of holding onto the bus rail which i noticed in the slow-mo animated gif.

the bus was compeltely stopped when the younger guy threw a swing....

The fight reminds me of Harvey Keitel's bank robbery speech in Reservoir Dogs:

When you're dealing with a store like this, they're insured up the ass. They're not supposed to give you any resistance whatsoever. If you get a customer, or an employee, who thinks he's Charles Bronson, take the butt of your gun and smash their nose in. Everybody jumps. He falls down screaming, blood squirts out of his nose, nobody says fucking shit after that. You might get some bitch talk shit to you, but give her a look like you're gonna smash her in the face next, watch her shut the fuck up.

then he must have done it out of habit.. regardless, holding the rail while getting pummled is the main thing that caused him to take a beating.

he punched a big muscular-ish guy in the side/arm, he didn't even aim for the face. it doesn't matter that he grabbed the rail. he doesn't know how to fight.

Only thing I have to add is that I appreciate how in the SF gif the opening punch does the biggest chunk of damage. All the punches are scaled to appropriate damage, actually. I appreciate that kind of attention to detail.

Well yeah, I'll give you that. He was probably going to get his ass kicked anyway.

anyway,:lol .. I don't want to argue about it, doesn't really matter. just made a little comment after seeing the animated gif. first thing I noticed was one dude standing there holding a bar while the other guy unloads on him with both hands.

As is, this would make a perfect case study of human behavior and characters developed in less than 2 minutes. Here's what we can do with this if we were to make this into a film:

Characters
1. Oldberg - The grizzled, disappointed-in-society Vietnam War vet provoking a fight by using overtly racist imagery/line of questioning, hoping he is finally put out of his misery by this "gang-lookin' fellow" so he can meet his wife in heaven.

He's definitely racist. He will provoke the fight using the ancient and unforgettable imagery of young African American males shining the shoes of white southern businessmen, and he'll say with a smile. When confronted, he'll accidentally reveal the depth of his bigotry, proclaiming, "I'd let a Chinaman shine 'em too!" He wants a fight, which is why he wears shirts that say "I'M A MOTHERFUCKER" on them.

2. Byron - The downtrodden bus boy who just lost his job at the local Home of Chicken & Waffles, only to be verbally attacked by a crazy ol' racist, when all he wants is to make it to class at CSU Northridge because he wants to give his teenage daughter a better life.

Surrounded by four women, two younger ghetto girls, a lovely but as yet-unrevealed young college girl, and an older black woman, he will have to decide whether to swallow his pride just one more time in the back of this sweltering bus.

3. Alisha and Shamisha - Two hoodrats in the back, hoopin', hollerin', eggin' on both of the men. Yelling out things like, "say it again, pinky!" and "beat his WHITE ass--WHOOP HIS AAAASS!" The ironic nature of their character is that they're basically too young to have any concept of the worlds in which the men they're provoking grew up in. Instead, they're using their modern technology to record this dreadful event. It will be years before they realize what part they played in this fateful day, if ever.

4. Amber Lamps - The young college girl, lonely and afraid. She's on her way to class too (CSU Northridge too), but just rebuffed the smiling black man who just boarded the bus. ["Isn't he in one of my classes? God, he talks just like one of those Dr. Dre videos my older brother used to like."] Incidentally, it will be the smile/flirt and the rebuff from our lovely maiden here that will provoke the Old Racist Veteran into thinking he needs to be put "in his place."

The entire incident reminds Ms. Lamps why she never should have moved away from Kansas City, but she will excitedly relate the story of a scene "just like that movie Crash!" for years to come.

5. The Older Black Lady - She's done well for herself and would like Mr. Pants-on-the-ground to stop trying to "set us back!" She'd have said something earlier, besides, "leave that man alone," but that old white hippie with the tattoos gave her a funny look she'd seen plenty of times before.

6. The Ambivalent/Pre-Occupied Bus Driver - She's worried about tomorrow, not those two idiots in back. She's seen it all before, a couple heated words, maybe some slaps exchanged, then one party would sadly spill out of the bus at the next stop. If only she could get them to stop long enough so she can think about the Court Case she's supposed to appear in tomorrow--some incident from last summer where an Asian lady ("had to be Chinese, since my route went right through Little China last year"). An African American lady apparently filed charges on both the bus company and the Asian lady, but the Pre-Occupied Bus driver was more worried about the footage that showed the bus being above capacity--clearly against policy.

7. The Incompetent Police Man - "man, this shift sucks." It's bad enough he has to wear a bright hazard cone orange shirt, but dealing with some screaming white dude quoting Training Day can't help but make him laugh. More likely, he just needs his meds, but these cute honeys are kinda making things worse. Ah shit, he ran off.
