I am Hispanic but when I got my job as a 911 dispatcher the officer fingerprinting me had to select white because Hispanic isn't a race or an option on the form. So what are we if not white Hispanics? Caucasian people are just European white.

1. White.
2. Black or African American.
3. American Indian or Alaska Native.
4. Asian.
5. Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander.

^these are the only options for race. I looked more into it and it is said Hispanics can be any race because Hispanic just means from a background of Spanish speakers. She's a white Hispanic like Jennifer Lopez or Shakira. I am as well. There are also black Hispanics and mestizos which are very brown. I get almost as pale as anyone in the winter.

So she isn't Asian, Black, Hawaiian, etc so she is white so the movie makes sense. Quit with the outrage about everything, lil bishes.

There's white PRs, white Dominicans, white others.... Just as there are black (even Asian) Mexicans, Dominicans, PRs, Etc. Most Mexicans are First Nation folks (tho they don't typically go by their ancestral tribal names) ... Apaches, Iroquois, etc, as well as Aztecs.

In the US at least it was "White, hispanic" and "White, non-hispanic" for decades. Only other real option for folks from latin america would be "native american" but that's really just for recognized North American tribes and it stops at the Rio Grande. It's a fairly silly and quite subjective distinction for most people. Ortega herself I'm sure would use ANY descriptor for herself other than "white", especially in this age of social media driven identity wars, but she would clearly qualify as "white". The other girl not so much, she looks mixed. But lighten her hair and keep her out of the sun, then with some good make-up she could just be a tan girl if you didn't look to closely.

I'm assuming they will adjust the title to "Single Female seeks same" or something and then the whole ethnic thing is totally moot. They will just use the "Single White Female" reference in the marketing, though that film is over 30 years old at this point so I'm not sure it has ANY culturally relevance to the market for this film. Kinda like that Y2K horror film. No one under 35 AT BEST, probably 40, has ANY understanding of that (non) event. It's severely misplaced nostalgia.

Now you get a SWF movie about a 50+ year old widow who gets a psycho 50 yo lady as a roomie, there is your remake

I think the bigger issue than the casting is acknowledging that Hollywood is truly scraping the bottom of the barrel of IP when Single White Female is getting a fucking reboot.
What's next, a "Pacific Heights" sequel or a "Final Analysis" extended universe? Guilty as Sin 2: The Reckoning? All with subversive or stunt casting of course.

I personally think Jenna Orgtega is overrated and this will likely suck. Granted, I have not seen everything she's done, but what I have seen it's all the same - no range.
