He seems waaaaaaay drunk.
WOW. He went off on a tangent about Iran after being asked about Palestine.
He simply stopped talking now.
WOW.
Now he's grinning and he turned bright red.

Naw, that's just the way he is. He is . . . uh . . . 'special'.Stinkles said:..is he drunk?

Cocopjojo said:My favorite thing to do is to watch Bush's press conferences on boring stuff like the housing industry and bank loans and stuff like that... and then imagine all of the people that call him an idiot also watching and having no idea what he's talking about. Because most of them wouldn't. The man runs an entire country and people think he's an idiot because he's not the best public speaker ever and because they read in an e-mail that he has the lowest IQ of any president (hint: don't believe everything you read in a forwarded email).
gofreak said:It wasn't really anything about what he was saying here, while I was watching him..Olmert was talking in the bit I saw. It was just how he was carrying himself, he just couldn't stand still and look serious at all...
..not that it really matters anymore. It'll all be over soon..!
I agree with you that it's a minor thing in comparison, but why SHOULDN'T we expect to have an educated man represent us? It has nothing to do with policy, but just common sense. The person with the singular greatest power in the nation and maybe the world should be able to communicate effectively and have a better than average command of grammar, no?grandjedi6 said:Of all the things you can complain about Bush, why continue to focus on his human slips during speeches?
Stinkles said:Basically, the press asked him: Why is there not three way meeting with you, Israel and the Palestinian leadership?
Bush: "Iran went crazy with their boats. The shouldn't have!" Interspersed with really long pauses."
I could see this. I saw some video of him when was Governor and I couldn't believe it was the same person. He was talking quickly and clearly with no stuttering and was just on the fucking ball. I was like "WTF?"catfish said:that would be the degenerative brain condition I'm certain he has
I would argue that Bill Clinton's conduct while in the White House was a much clearer example of someone being intellectually challenged. At least a lot clearer than Bush Junior not being a great public speaker.CharlieDigital said:But seriously, have we ever had a president in the modern day era who seemed more intellectually challenged than Bush Jr?

You know, it's funny: intelligent people have always been known for their poor communication skills, and yet, that fact has always been overlooked when it comes to Bush.Battersea Power Station said:I agree with you that it's a minor thing in comparison, but why SHOULDN'T we expect to have an educated man represent us? When you're the president of the country, every word should be thoroughly examined and criticized. It's not our job as citizens to give the man in charge a free pass or to make it an easy and pleasant experience, and I don't understand the contempt from some when we don't.Cocopjojo said:I would argue that Bill Clinton's conduct while in the White House was a much clearer example of someone being intellectually challenged. Welcome to the 21st century, where someone's every word, every sylllable can and will be criticized and held against them.
The man's no Einstein, so let's not go there. He's been given given 8 years to exhibit this intelligence that you're claiming he possesses, and look where that's gotten us. He's a stubborn dolt. You know, it's funny: intelligent people have always been known for their poor communication skills, and yet, that fact has always been overlooked when it comes to Bush.
Ummmm...what? Do you have a source for that claim?Cocopjojo said:You know, it's funny: intelligent people have always been known for their poor communication skills, and yet, that fact has always been overlooked when it comes to Bush.

Get off yer high horses, folks; he's a bad public speaker, but he didn't become President of the United States twice by being an idiot.
Archaix said:No, he became President of the United States by the United States public being idiots and then the second time by the Democratic Party being idiots.

I agree completely that everything the President says should be examined and criticized. But the important part is what he's saying, the issues that he's speaking on, not the fact that he trips over words.Finn said:When you're the president of the country, every word should be thoroughly examined and criticized. No, he got elected twice by a broken form of democracy where the guy getting less votes can win and idiots voting for him.Cocopjojo said:Get off yer high horses, folks; he's a bad public speaker, but he didn't become President of the United States twice by being an idiot.

Don't forget Elmer Fudd either. I mean, sure, he never actually caught Bugs, but he always came mighty close. A for effort, I'd say.
Yes, autism is an example of the extreme end, but it's generally regarded that it's a gradual trade-off (not always or in every situation, of course).grandjedi6 said:I think he's refering to socially inept people and those with disorders like Autism. Of course Bush clearly doesn't have either of these or he wouldn't have been able to go work in politics
