I just bought an item from someone through Paypal and I id use Payment not gift. The item never came, so do I open a dispute? And how long does a dispute take to go through?

Actually, what do I do in general to get my money back?

Also did you try contacting them directly to see what's up?

If you get nothing as a response, you file a dispute with PayPal. They will work with you to get your money back.

Have you tried contacting the seller?
How long has it been since you've paid for the item?
How long has it been since the seller said he/she has shipped the item (if ever)?
Is there a tracking number/delivery confirmation for the item that was sent?

For Paypal, you have up to 45 days to open a dispute for the transaction.

No, it's not through here. It's digital music download on a site from Spain.
It was the only site I can find the item, and from google translate it said that I needed to do SMS verification to get the code. After it said it all went through nothing came.

It's been about 3 days. No response so I'll open a dispute now.

My Journey Artbook came with a Voucher for a free download of the PS3 soundtrack. I already have it, along with pre-ordering the physical CD. I'm mostly looking for any of the preorder DOA5 costumes that were Amazon or Best Buy exclusive. I have the CE from Gamestop which came with the Bunny costumes and the swimsuits. I think there are Angel or Devil Variants. If not, I'll see about trading for some of the Halo 4 preorder bonuses when it comes out. Thanks for your time!
