Buying a 4K TV for PS4K thread!

Good to see the ball is still rolling. Wheatly you've helped start a party that's not stopping until the sun goes down. GAF doing the HDR God's work.

Hah, let me know what you think of the TV once you get it.

It blew me away given that I also upgraded from some old (2007 I think?) set.

Got in on the EPP deal today for the 65" KS8000 @ 1279+tax. A little hassle with getting an invite but worth the small trouble. I'm okay with a short delay in the shipping, because this is easily as good as any BF deal is going to be, probably better.

Can you please send me an invite? PM is so. Thanks

I ordered the 65" on Wednesday night and it shipped on Thursday. Even then there was alot of hype about how backordered they were so give it a couple of days to see if they ship.

I think mine stayed that way, until some shipping company called me (AGS or something?) called me to schedule an appointment for delivery
Was this with regular shipping, or white glove?

EDIT: I guess I'm just asking generally if the standard delivery when purchasing using from Samsung is a scheduled one, or does that require white glove?

It blew me away given that I also upgraded from some old (2007 I think?) set.

I've had the 2015 Vizio P series, then the Samsung JS9000 which I got as part of Best Buys accommodation program when I was there. I didn't keep it because it was missing some features and still very expensive I think I paid 1400 and it was a 2k+ TV at the time. Kept it for a while and it was amazing but I was able to sell it for a profit after I stopped working there. Had a JS7000 which I also flipped buy got to mess around with to test. In the end Bought a 144hz Freesync IPS monitor and been waiting for the right time. I was saving the cash for VR but the features I want from VR min are like 4k, eye tracking and foveated rendering on an OLED HMD... So It's going to be a while yet lol. Then this came along and it's absolutely impulse buy territory. I've missed a good VA panel...

I'm basically hoping for the same quality I had but with a much more flushed out HDR, higher contrast, better input lag and more streamlined features It looks like that's what I'm getting. Before to get the WCG for computer use it upped my input lag to like 60ms on that thing. It's why I won't go with an OLED. I can definitely feel the difference.

That was just with regular shipping. I heard it depends on where you are though - some people got it dropped off by OnTrac

Sorry man i tried to... I had trouble getting the thing myself, kept running into "the email is already in use" on two different personal emails but somehow at one point managed to get myself into the perksatwork home page signed in (after sending password reset requests and all sorts of voodoo)

Now i try to log back into this account and I can't even do it, nor can i seem to get a new password reset email sent to me.

Over on the slickdeals forums a lot of people are giving out invites still.

It might be reasonable to believe that this deal and these websites are getting hammered all to shit, since this deal broke midweek and now it's saturday.

According to rtings, the Sony xd800 has about 33ms lag at 4K/HDR, the XD85 is 57ms and the XD93 is also about 57ms. Surprising that the lower end model would be faster. Is 57ms tolerable for general gaming?

Sure its tolerable and you'll get used to it. But you'll still feel the difference if you're coming from a faster display. Especially something like a monitor. Which can be a deal breaker for those like myself.

While I'm late and deserve no pity, I would love an invite if anyone was feeling so generous as to grant this peasant one...

I helped TetraGenesis out and I *assume* all went smoothly (I'm new to this whole EPP invite thing... I was just invited myself earlier today)

SO, it looks like I have 4 invites left? PM me if you need one, and I guess that I'll just go in order received. It's asking for a first and last name plus an email address, so I'm assuming that's what I'll need from you.

Thanks!

Just PM'd you. Thanks!

Important question. As i ll get soon the ps4 pro, i m looking into 4k tv for it. I'm coming from ps3 + 42" 1080p sony tv.
I want a 65" 4k set. The thing is, after reading i think all there is to read on the perfect tv, i was convinced i needed to target a hdr10 tv.
Until i read the eurogamer article, where i read that hdr is not necesseraly better in non low light conditions.
And as hdr adds a lots of €€€ and a bit of input lag, i just don't know anymore is i should target 65" 4k hdr or just 65" 4k non hdr.
What do you think ?

Oh I know. I've been in the Retro AV Club thread asking them far too many questions about the XRGB-Mini. I still don't trust myself to configure and use one correctly.

The TV I've been playing on for a while is the Panasonic GT30, which is something like 20-25 ms input lag. I wish it were possible for me to try something with 60-70 ms lag just to see if I can tell the difference between it and my GT30.

I was going to do this before I bought my OLED C6....but that deal last night was too good to wait.

but yeah initially I was going to take my PS4 or anyother gaming device with HDMI and take it to BestBuys and ask if I could hook it up to the main tv I'm interested in (not like walk around and try every tv. Although hey maybe they'd be down)...and I'd play a game of Madden and try to kick a field goal or something to see it it affected me THAT much.

all with the intention of buying from them...... I feel if you are going to spend some money $$$$... might as well go out of your way to experience it yourself, instead of only relying on the experience of others/youtube.

I really need to upgrade my HL61A750 as the DLP chip is going bad. This seems like too good of a deal to pass up given it probably won't be cheaper on Black Friday.

I got one from him. I sent the code to him and Voltron64. Check your emails

hope this gets posted before you send him one too

OK, it looks like my invites were accepted by both Art Vandilay and TetraGenesis... I hope that it didn't turn out that you wasted one of yours :-(

BUT, with that being said, I have three more so, if anyone else wants one, I'll just crank through them in the order that I get your DM (need your first and last name along with an email address, apparently) Thanks!

For strict gaming purposes, I went from a display that was 52 ms to 33 ms with the X800D. Haven't noticed a change. I notice the better PQ and colors rather than the input lag. Don't feel my shots are better in Halo etc.

Like I posted above. For some it is more noticeable than others, but anything under 70 is ultimately tolerable, especially for non-twitch games. Lowr is better. But you will slowly get used to what your display does as well.

Like I said, people thinking 2017 televisions WILL have better input lag are fooling themselves. Televisions get worse as often as they get better with input lag as technology changes or new features added. Tv manufacturers gave game modes to try and offset and fix the issues. Some sets get better some get worse in terms of input lag.

Just sent invites to Attrition and kungfuian... hope it all works out!

One more left if anyone wants it! Whoever PMs me their first and last name along with email address gets it (that's what it asks for in the invite process). Thanks!

EDIT: Final invite sent! I'm out... hope to have helped all that I can.

Thanks GringoJB!! I PM'd him but I'll put it here as well. I skimmed the thread but didn't see exactly how it works once you get your invite. Is there anything on the perksatwork website that says you've been invited by someone? If so I'm not seeing it. I follow the Samsung link to their website but it shows me the KS8000 65 for 1699, not the 1200 price. What am I doing wrong?

You'll click the invite link in the email. Might want to clear cache and/or open in incognito.

You should get a sign in page asking you to create a password.*
You should now be on perksatwork signed in... search for Samsung and you should find this link:
yI2Gk7O.png

This will direct you to Samsung's site where you should see the discounted prices now. Some have reported that certain EPP accounts don't get the Samsung discounts.

* I had trouble here, bullshit about "email account is already in use" but I managed to get past it to the link somehow, but don't even ask me how, I was just trying combinations of password resetting and manually entering the site's url and things like that. I'm not seeing anyone else with this problem though.

Hmmmm.... I'm thinking that, after I sent my invite, you should have received an email to sign up for an actual login to the perksatwork site that would let you click through to Samsung with the new pricing enabled. I just logged in myself to perksatwork and clicked over to Samsung from there... from there, if I went here:

http://www.samsung.com/us/televisio...-series-4k-suhd-tv-2016-model-un65ks8000fxza/

...it shows me a price of $1279.99. Lemme know how it goes...

I have 2 invites left if anyone wants them. PM me your first and last name along with your email and I will have the invites sent.

2 left.

You'll receive an email and need to follow the email instructions to sign up, then you can sign in and get the deal.

Think the problem I'm having is that I created a perksatwork account before getting the invite. Like you said Phreak I'm getting the email already in use. I'll try doing what you suggested.

Thanks. Always appreciate calm and non-hyperbolic answers.

How are you liking the x800d?

It has been solid. I needed below 47" for my dedicated gaming room space now and the 43" X800D fit the bill. I was able to get my set for $723 CAD roughly $540 USD before taxes and levy which is an amazing price (friend is an employee at a store).

Using it as a dedicated gaming television and PC monitor for 4k 4:4:4 gaming. Cannot wait for PS4 Pro and Scorpio to truly see what it is capable of in terms of 4K and HDR. Watching 720p/1080i broadcasts is depressing especially after you see what sports and movies can look like at 4K.

Your GPU not support HDR?

I have 5 invites for the first 5 requests.

PM first last and e-mail

Anyone have feedback on 55' vs 65' for the ks8000? I want the larger one obviously but the price on the 55' is soooo much lower. Is the smaller size going to make actually 'seeing' the benefits a problem? Don't need analysis really but some user experiences/opinion would be great. I sit about 8 feet from my set.

I got an email but I'm struggling with the whole "email already in use" thing. What exactly did you have to do?

It was strange, i'll try to retrace...

I got into the home page somehow... after running into that name in use problem, I was trying opening the link in incognito mode, clearing cache... what seemed to get it going was to go to perksatwork.com directly, sending a "forgot password" request. At some point during the process after clicking the link in the forgot password email i was sent, it was sending me back to that same 'create your password' page and I was getting the same error again... but somehow I managed to land on their home page with "Welcome, E" (I had entered my first name as 'E' in one of the attempts). I wish i could tell you exactly what I did but I got there. Once there I got the deal.

Alright I got in and am on the Samsung site seeing 1279 for the 65. Its hanging though on adding it to the cart, window pops up with 4 black orbs moving left to right like its processing something but doesn't finish. Might try and talk to the live chat people in a second.

What I did to get past the email already in use is basically voodoo like Phreak said. I cleared my cache then went back in. Clicked on the help center link from the page you are sent to from the initial email. Clicked on the help center link and then inside the help center I clicked on the question where you're having trouble with initial login - this will take you back to the fedex login. Went back and forth a few times from the email link to the help center and finally back to the email link. Eventually, instead of having the suffix/name/password/work email/personal email, it was just reset password with my work email already filled in. I changed my password and it let me though. I wish I could say exactly what I did but it worked for me.

Now to figure out why it wont add it to my cart.

No the smaller size won't affect you seeing the benefits. However if you can afford it and want a bigger size, do so now as size is always the biggest regret when it comes to television purchases. Also, sent you an email to see if you still have invites for the EPP.

Also: was holding off on living room purchase but the price too good to pass up. Anyone have any EPP invites left?

PM me.

Just got off the phone with the Samsung sales department. I guess the website is overloaded and they're currently working on it. Cannot place an order till they get it fixed.

What do you think ?

If you can afford it, you still definitely want to get one with HDR to get the most out of the new content, the combination of 4K + HDR makes the leap even better. Games are starting to get HDR modes so the amount is going to only increase. Plus if you have any interest in buying uhd blu-rays (all of them include it) in the future or when the players get cheaper. Amazon/Netflix are both making their shows with it too if you end up having any interest in those.

So the Samsung KS8000 is named KS7000 in EU right?
And what's up with stutter issues that I've read about that set? I'm really interested in it though.

Talked to 2 different best buy employees and they both said if i can verify that i can get the tv through samsung for that price they should be able to match it. just a heads up if people wanna try. can someone send me the coupon thing?

Edit: got a link thanks to Blackpanther25!

Bestbuy said they would match? Im interested because if so Ill go into bestbuy tonight and grab one lol

Before taxes? 729.99 for the 55 with the invite. I'm on the phone now with my local bestbuy seeing if they can price match it. I hope they will lol

edit: Just got off the phone with them, they said on their end they're only seeing the 999.99 price and cant verify it even if i brought in my laptop. Im not sure if I said the wrong thing or if I should have told them I had a discount through fedex works.

Anyone have any thoughts?

I need to buy a new TV and this thread is making me cry, mostly thanks to stupid LatAm prices :(

Came to this thread to help out my fellow gamers with 4K and instead left with another 65" KS8000 to go with the 43" X800D I had already bought lol. I am good for the next 5+ years.

PM sent! I am super curious if someone is able to price match this at best buy...

I have never heard of price matching with BestBuy if they can't pull up and see the price.

I price matched a ton of stuff there, and they always proceed with asking from where and then they pull up the website to confirm.
