I've heard good things about westinghouse, but I've heard that AKAi is basically a rebranded samsung. And it has a built in tuner (but what does it do really?)

will be using it for 360 and also getting a PS3 down the line, would be nice to have 1080p...but heard that westinghouse tvs has problems with ps3...

I need ur help in helping me decide bettween these two
Thanks :)

Ya...dont see much of a difference but didnt get to see it side by side, and didnt really play with the setting. no 360/ps3 to test it on either, which I'll prob use it mainly. Just wondering if anyone here has either tv and what do they think of it?

I quickly read the thread title as "Burning a HDTV, need help!" and was greatly intrigued. I'm now greatly disappointed.

I don't know if you guys have it in the States, but the Acer DT3705 is also a good TV. 1080p 37". It's now discontinued and should be on clearance, but like I said, it might be for Canada only.

I have a Sharp 42 in. Full HD 1080p LCD TV, AQUOS Liquid Crystal Television, Widescreen

Its a great TV and I have my 360 up to 1080i, everything looks sharp and colors looks vivid.

The PS3 issue with the Westy is a firmware issue on the westinghouse side. They have a fix but i think a service tech is supposed to come out to do it which is kinda lame...But who knows maybe that set has already been flashed to the new firmware.

you get what you pay for.

Not always. I got an Acer 3220A and people said they compared it to some other TVs and the HD was comparable to a Sony and Sharp of the same size while the SD was considerably better. I'm very happy with it. It was $637.50 + tax Canadian. Original price $999.99 - 15% Boxing Week - 30 % clearance.

I recommend taking input lag into account when considering which TV you want to get. Especially if you're going to be using the TV primarily for gaming. I bought the 27" Olevia LCD that Circuit City had on sale for $480 in December, but the input lag was pretty darn bad. Perhaps as much as two tenths of a second bad. When cycling through game menus, actions on screen were always a button press or more behind. I was magically able to hit three point shots in NBA 2K7 when I took it back and switched to a tube TV.

Input lag made me rule out LCDs completely when deciding which TV to get since I was in the market for an HDTV in the first place solely because of PS3 and 360.

One thing I always have a hard time figuring out is if there's input jacks in the front of the TV, and how many input jacks there are total. That stuff can really limit the number of things you can hook up to the TV.

Otherwise, both TVs are low end brands for a high end product. Which means, unless you are a real video nut, you won't be able to tell the difference in picture apart from the high end stuff. You can't go wrong with a 37 Inch HDTV!

I recently bought a $500 (after a 10% off coupon) Polaroid 26" LCD, built-in tuner, HDMI, VGA, 2x component. Great picture quality on 360 through vga or component. Tv looks really nice. Stand is a little flimsy.

Really pleased with the TV.

If you are going through VGA (not sure about hdmi), you wont get display lag. Component @ 1080P yes, certain LCD tvs will experience lag.

I can vouche for the awesomeness of the Westy at 1080p...

...That said, SD stuff looks like the poopies and with some models there is an HDMI handshaking issue (which can be worked around with HDMItoDVIconverters or unplugging/replugging the HDMI cable.) OH and there is no zoom/crop feature... only 4:3 and stretch, meaning if the source isn't 16:9 you're SOL and have to watch in 4:3 to maintain aspect ratio (eg. letterboxed 4:3 stuff.)

1080p is soooo hot right now.
