Buying your own product in order to meet a sales quota...

I got a job at Sears working in the appliances department (I really wanted to work in the electronics department, but this was what they had). I went in for orientation and the supervisor told me that I was working on straight commission and had to clear 4 sales per week or I would be written up. Three write ups and I was out. Several employees told me that they would buy it themselves or beg family members to buy from them. I handed them my ID badge at the end of the night and looked for another job.

I had a call centre temp job once where I had to cold call business and small shops to ask if they would like a free Coke branded refrigerator. Those leads would then be passed onto sales, who would have got commission off the back of my shitty legwork. I marked loads of calls as a yes to keep my numbers up and as a fuck you to sales. Thankfully it was only a two week job placement.
