Does Cali allow you to have your own solar panels, or are they like other states that make you reflow that’s power into the grid and give you energy credit for it? It would really suck if you had your own solar but were shut off from it.

So it’s the current governors fault the California electrical grid is not properly developed for this heat wave. Lol please continue and explain.

If you can produce enough power for your property, you don't have to be connected to a grid. The way that works out legally is you need to have at least 10 panels to be considered self sufficient, regardless of how much power you're actually producing. Also, solar panels are a requirement of any newly built home in the state as of the first of this year.

Perhaps not 100% their fault, but a very larger percentage. There is a laundry list of things that can be done to prevent this from happening and yet no governor since the 50s has followed through with any of it.

Come on dude. Why would you wish this for us? California is a beautiful place with tons of people of different opinions.

Hopefully we’ll elect someone with more common sense next time.

Maybe if we weren’t throwing literally billions of dollars in education and healthcare costs to illegals we would have some money in the budget for, you know, infrastructure.

Would be nice to not be in a constant state of drought because we don’t have the reservoir capacity. It would be nice if we had enough electrical bandwidth to withstand a mild fucking heatwave.

Nope, have to gift everything to people who don’t pay their taxes (don’t throw that sales tax bullshit at me, a lot of what they make here doesn’t circulate back into the community, it goes to relatives back home.) All because the democrats are buying voting power. It’s why they want illegals counted on the census, it’s why they want the voting system to be as exploitable as possible. It’s why they want open borders.

They would rather watch the country burn with them in power than to see it prosper at the hand of someone else.

The current governor supports banning most of the energy production in this country. He’s also shoveling money out the door to illegal residents in his state. He’s also a member of the political organization this had a stranglehold on California for the vast majority of the last 30 years. So yes, it’s his fault. Him and his buddies. But please, keep making excuses as California slides further down the cliff.

That's not just it. They also rigged the primary system so for 90% of the elections in the state they will be the only party on the ballot. With the "top two" system, the Dems know that they'll always be the top two in most primaries, meaning a Republican never stands the chance of running in an election in the state. Then with ballot harvesting legalized, those who like to have threesomes with their staff members can easily win congressional seats with a car full of ballots with their name on it mysteriously showing up.

If Dems have a strangle hold on the state (they don’t) when was the last republican governor in power just a few years ago? The current gov didn’t create the energy crisis in California. These problems take a decade to correct and fund. Not to mention you have public energy companies managing these infrastructures that would need to be forced to fix them (the evil regulation of democrats).
Him trying to give some relief to illegals is irrelevant and just you showing your bias I won’t even address that.
He supports green energy. You probably weren’t around to see what LA and San Diego looked like in the 80s when clean energy wasn’t a focus. It looked like those terrible photos from China with unbreathable air. I know I lived there.

If your representative can’t get at least some primary support why should they be on the ballot? Also seems plenty fair compared the gerrymandered garbage Republicans have done to Texas that was so egregious it went to our Supreme Court. I’d prefer that any day with actually real drawn districts.

Again California isn’t all Democrats this is a lie that needs to stop. Simply because your favorite party isn’t in power doesn’t mean you just get to make shit up. This voting record is very similar to Texas just reversed.

It’s the government of California, yeah.
It’s really not. It’s controlled by a non profit. Yeah the govt could force them to upgrade their lines but like I said that would take them funding the CAISO with billions they didn’t have so they’d have to raise taxes not exactly popular.

You don't understand how the free-for-all primaries work in CA. It's the top two of any party on the ballot who go on to the general election. There aren't separate primaries like everywhere else.

All candidates for voter-nominated offices are listed on one ballot and only the top two vote-getters in the primary election – regardless of party preference - move on to the general election. Write-in candidates for voter-nominated offices can only run in the primary election. A write-in candidate will only move on to the general election if the candidate is one of the top two vote-getters in the primary election.

Prior to the Top Two Candidates Open Primary Act, the top vote-getter from each qualified political party, as well as any write-in candidate who received a certain percentage of votes, moved on to the general election.

Most people in CA hate the system, but the state is run by the Teacher's Unions; so as long as they own the legislature and governor it'll never go back to normal.

Just do like Kamala Harris and make prisoners fight the wildfires! Remember Cali has a huge pool of forced labor thanks to the black cop slave master

i don’t think you understand how the republicans aren’t owed a seat at the table if they can’t even get a 2nd majority share of the votes. The two system political structure of our country isn’t protected by any law. If they can’t even get 2nd best they don’t belong on any ballot.

they are literally voter nominated. You are complaining about people having the power to elect who they want 😂

Hey have it your way. You guys are doing a bang up job out there. No electricity. No freedom. And COVID just as bad as anywhere else. But keep on shoveling money to illegal residents. I’m sure it will pay off for you guys.

Are there urban tree planting and canopy expanding initiatives in California? (I know there are reforestation efforts there, but planting in the cities is way more important in this case)

Full grown trees (they would have had to have been planted 15-20 years ago) do a lot in the way of temperature regulation and reducing energy usage. A house/apartment building surrounded by trees uses significantly less energy to heat and cool because the trees insulate and shade the building. Street trees are needed for the PAVEMENT, which radiates captured heat from sunlight, raising temperatures after the sun is down. Of course it'd have to be specific broad leaf native/non-invasive trees, not their favorite environmental disaster combination of trees; eucalyptus, avocado, and almond (each of which requires huge amounts of water, don't provide effective shade, and contribute greatly to the occurrence of wildfires).

Luckily Atlanta doesn’t have voluntary power blackouts nor does it have ehuge waves of wildfires.

Also we got Chik Fil A mac n cheese. And Waffle House. Mmm mmm

The last republican governor came from a recall election. The democrats were so corrupt they couldn't convince their base to give a shit.

Nothing has changed since

Does anyone know enough about California's history to know if the following Twitter thread is accurate?

100% accurate. The Camp Fire last year was caused by flammable brush around a PG&E power line that the state of CA FORBID PG&E from clearing over environmental concerns.

What's going on now is similar to when Gray Davis was recalled. We had massive wildfires in San Diego and then Davis refused to send fire fighters to the more conservative areas of SD and let their homes burn down. That led to his recall and Arnold.

Now we have the COVID lockdown + power blackouts + more wildfires. Newsom's recall could be in the 80% range.

Sounds like they have a big infrastructure problem with electricity if they can't keep up with demands durning a damn heat wave. That could kill people especially during a pandemic if people are sick running a fever. I get the lock down is a big factor but they should have prepared for this before hand. Meanwhile, the people need to invest in a generator. As someone who lives in hurricane prone areas we need to have a generator just in case.

Their ideological fanaticism gets in the way of the reliability of their electric grid. I have no doubt this occurs in other sectors as well (looking at you controlled forest burns).

In CA they forbid power companies from clearing flammable brush to prevent forest fires over environmental concerns, and then blame them when fires wipe out entire towns.

Sounds very similar to what happened in Australia with their bushfires.

Pretty soon they won't even be able to jump in an Uber just to get to ride around in a car with air conditioning during their blackouts!

Once the narcissistic appeal of getting to tell people on social media that you live in NYC or LA wears off, look at what you're left with.
