Caffeine am weaksauce

Wow, awesome. I thought I was the only one that caffeine didn't affect. Nice to know there's others out there too heh.

Oh, and for those saying go without caffeine and then see if it affects you, I've done it. Still doesn't do a thing to me. I went through a multi-month period of no caffeine at all and when I drank some soda (Diet Coke or Diet Dr. Pepper) I wasn't all hopped up and wide-eyed or jittery or anything.

I think it just doesn't affect some people at all.

It's called tolerance. Start drinking no caffeine and see what happens.
Then when you start up again you kinda feel a little more alert for a day and then it's back the way it was.

.

All you did was drink a soda.

Haha, I know man. O'Doul's is another non-alcoholic beer.

My post was a joke. 25 beers? I'll be drunk. Though I won't be passing out any time soon. :D

Caffeine(and stims in general) have never had a large effect on me. For those in the same boat(not including those who have increased their tolerance), how many are overweight? I've wondered for a couple of years now if this is a symptom of something else going on in your body(poor carb tolerance, endomorphism in general, etc.).

I have the same problem as OP, coffee doesn't do shit for me. I have to resort to Red Bull if I want a stimulant.

What in red bull revs you up?

I only was more tired when I stopped drinking coffee, but I never felt more awake by drinking it. After 2 or 3 days of "withdrawl" I never knew why I was drinking coffee in the first place. Nowadays I just drink coffee occassionally on the weekend.

Took two months without any kind of pop (Hey! Don't look at me like I got a penis growing out of my face just because I said pop!) and went back to it.. caffeine still does nothing to me.

I remember there was a time when I had a buzz from caffeine. Now it's just a required element of my daily routine.

I can drink a 44oz soda and go to bed 30minutes later. I'm immune.

Of course I'm up every 30minutes to piss. :lol

Never got a buzz from coffee, but it does wake me up in the morning.

Has to be dark though, drinking it with any cream or sugar/splenda is useless.

I'm an extreme lightweight. 5'10", 135 lb. At one point I was just drinking coffee all day; it did help me feel marginally better, but if I didn't get any caffeine over the weekend, I would get headaches, I would get sick, and I would generally be worthless. I finally managed to give it up for good and only drink the caffeine-free sodas like orange Fanta and Sierra Mist.

But if I have a Coke now, not only do I get freaking wired, but I still get the withdrawals just as bad. Headaches, nausea, the whole bit. It's frightening.

I'm like him, and I can go days with no caffeine, and noting happens. I dunno, I too think it has no perceptible effect on me, and it never did. I know some people who start shaking after one cup of coffee though.

Who else feels no effects from caffeine?

People are always talking about how they get hyper and giddy, after a coffee or even (wat) a can of soda/pop.
I drink a coffee, and go to sleep. It does nothing!

Though sometimes I wish it would...

Same here. Try the 5 hour energy shot.

ever heard of a tolerance?

Drinking coke doesn't seem to affect me, but if I drink several coffees throughout a single afternoon I'll end up like O_O but it has to be black coffee... and quite a bit of it. It only happened to me once that I wasn't able to sleep due to drinking too much coffee (one day I spent the whole night studying).

Drink a couple of these badboys first thing in the morning, wait for your stomach to close and then zip around like a loon but with 68.7% less jitters than Red Bull.

My friend is addicted to those Monster energy drinks. While I admit that they are quite tasty, I tell him he needs to slow down. When your hands start shaking, you know you're drinking too much of that stuff.

Probably means you need to drink less caffeine.

I try to stay away from the stuff all together, occasionally I'll have some tea in the morning.

And I do drink these once in a blue moon if I'm working 3rd shift but not on the 3rd shift sleep schedule.

Well... obviously some people react to certain drugs differently, but often it's down to personalities and people's presumptions... unless they are habitual users and have built up a certain level of resistance.

There are certain kinds of people who have a kind of mindset that acts almost like a reverse placebo, they are convinced that alcohol/smoking/painkillers/coffee etc. have absolutely no affect on them when of course physiologically it's more or less impossible for them not to, but their recollection and perception of the experience is modulated by their presumptions.

Me! And I hate the fact. I can drink double or triple at work and it does NOTHING for me. Maybe my body has just become immune to it from all the soda I have been drinking since a child. lol I need to find a better solution to wake me up / give me some energy.

What the fuck, that's what happens to me. I'M NOT ALONE?! I THOUGHT I WAS ALL ALONE! *cries and hugs industrian*

;)

Seriously though, a few months ago my office got a coffee machine and everyone in the office only drinks strong stuff. The sort of stuff that you can fill half the cup with milk and it'll still be black coffee. One cup of that just made me a zombie. I have the same effect with Coca-Cola as well. Irn-Bru on the other hand gives me a slight jolt, but considering it's pretty much liquid sugar I've tried to cut down on it
without success.

I think my reaction to coffee may be related to the fact that in my last year of university, I relied on all-nighters to get things done, which involved a serious amount of coffee. Even back then it wouldn't give me energy or anything - I would still feel tired, but it would just be impossible to fall asleep.

Caffeine has the next effects on me:

1) I feel tired
2) Makes me sleepy but can't sleep
3) Shitfest
5) Dark, smelly urine
6) Numb arms
7) Weird emotional status
8) Screws up my circulatory system. I can feel the blood pumping like crazy at some spots. And my circulatory system is already messed up enough (even had to have surgery).

A coke or two have very mild effects, but I get those at full effect when having well loaded coffees or energy drinks.

Dude WHAT are you doing drinking coffee if you have had cardiovascular problems?! o_O

I OD'd on caffeine once by taking 2 endorush and 15 MAN Scorch within a couple hours. Probably the worst I ever felt in my life, throwing up for about 7 hours and couldn't sleep for a couple days, as well as feeling completely scraped out.

it sounds like a lot of people in here don't get what caffeine typically does.... aka it's not speed and your typical soda doesn't have enough in it to do shit all by itself. and if you are tired already, it will practically never make you not tired.

it's basically a very low intensity upper. If you are already awake it's enough to make you more energetic. If you are already tired it's enough to make you less tired. but if you haven't slept in 36 hours it isn't going to be able to do a whole lot to keep you going for another 12 after that.

the biggest "benefit" of caffeine comes with sugar. the two together have slightly stronger effects, but again your average soda isn't enough to do much. a power drink (especially with like 50g of sugar or more) is generally enough to get most people moving, but also is usually not enough to do a lot more than mentioned above. Make an awake person quite a bit more active, and a tired person a fair bit less tired. Of course with caffeine there is usually a less harsh period when crashing. With sugar added the crash is usually a bit worse. You are not going to fall right asleep, but your body will be noticeably more groggy than when you took the caffeine sugar.

as mentioned earlier in this thread, the people who say it has no effect on them are usually either not taking enough caffeine/sugar to do anything in the first place, or have much different expectations on what it is supposed to do. there are of course some people who it might have little effect on, but most just don't understand what it is actually doing.

edit - and the people who say it does nothing for them except cause headaches/withdrawal when you don't have it, look up chemical tolerance. If you really want an effect from it just drastically increase your dosage. :P

I love coffee... but I drink it 2 or 3 times a year because of that :(
Before, I had it every day. I brewed it myself... damn, I need a cup now!

Caffeine doesn't do anything for me anymore, but I guess after years of drinking high amounts will do that to someone.

I'll drink something caffeinated just to 'wake up', but most of the time, it just puts me on a steady buzz so that I can function throughout the day. Hell, drinking soda/coffee at night before bed just makes me even more tired.

Most energy drinks don't do anything for me either, but I've been meaning to try that '5-hour energy shot' thing to see if it'll do anything for me.

Probably the only thing that can keep me up anymore is Mountain Dew Code Red, but I suspect that it's more to do with the sugar and not so much the caffeine.

Same here, I can drink coffee or tea or coke and go right to bed with no problem.

In a way it's nice, but I can't use caffeine for the boost like a lot of people.

Try one of those caffeine energy shot things from a health store like GNC. One of those things had me shivering me timbres so bad I was inable to walk. I had this needle-like feeling, like I had rolled around a cactus, started sweating and itching. It was horrible.

Nothing like I have ever felt before.
