Call of Doodie IGN review

7.0 Presentation
Some decent cut-scenes and a strong concept, but there's an overall failure of execution. There's no power or humanity here, just another war game.

7.5 Graphics
Some areas, particularly the brief look at Africa, are incredible, but most are very ordinary. Some really weak effects, particularly some of the explosions.

7.5 Sound
Nice use of directional sound, but there's not enough voicing from the supporting cast. The score, though original, seems out of place in certain scenes.

7.0 Gameplay
Pretty much your standard wartime FPS. A good shooter, but it seems stuck between realism and over-the-top antics. More like a Rambo movie than a World War II game in parts. Average level design.

7.0 Lasting Appeal
It's a short campaign, that good FPS players can beat in 7-8 hours. The multiplayer is decent, but nothing we haven't seen before.

7.3 OVERALL:

never really expected this to be that great, I never got the impression that Spark could do the IP justice. It is all about Infinity Ward next title!!!

seems like it didnt live up to the PC version, shame...
Did you ever expect it too? Infinity Ward was formed from the major members that made the best Medal of Honor games (MOH:AA), while Spark Unlimited was started from refugees from EALA which made the various console MOH games.

All the authenticity in the world can't make the game more fun to play. And with WWII shooters, sometimes I wonder if making these battles fun is even ethical.

same here. now i'm really thinking twice about it. the online play was the big thing for me and it's not even being talked about.

I dislike 20th century war games, but at least this one runs at 60 fps. It's quite a refreshing sight after three years of chunky-ass Xbox PC ports.

I think it really depends on what system you plan to get it for too. If you have an Xbox, it's hard to pick this game for online play with Halo 2 out there. There's so much more to the online play there. CoD only supports four game modes: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, CTF, and Search and Destroy. A couple of the maps are actually really good. The problem is there are so many FPSs out there that it'/s hard to justify it. CoD isn't a bad game, it just doesn't stand out. It's a solid title, a bit short in the single player mode, but not bad at all. Maybe worth a rental, but not as good as the original PC version.

Team Xbox claimed to do a side-by-side comparison where the GC version is the worst of the bunch graphically (again). Did you find this to be true?
