Yeah, thats true.

What was the experience like?

Did people hold back and creep out of cover carefully or was it a bunnyhop fest like COD2?

Jumping was a really rare in COD4 MP Beta actually. A lot of climbing, but not much jumping. There was cover use (pop up and shoot), but there was also a lot of darting from cover to cover. The beauty of the maps from the MP was that it was virtually impossible not to out flank a location since there were numerous ways to enter each of major areas.

Hmm... looking at the reviews so far:

1UP - 9.5
GT - 9.4
IGN - 9.4

Lets play guess the GS score and complaints!!

- game has too many options and different gameplay mechanics (shooting on the floor, shooting from a plane, shooting from the top of a building, etc.) that will confuse gamers
- the frame rate is so high that it makes Aaron Thomas dizzy...

Gamespot - 7.5 confirmed?

Most likely 8.5

Now that you're saying something, in the multiplayer I haven't even noticed what the teams are... I am shooting other people I'm told to. I guess this is how it feels to be raised poor in a socialist country where you're told what to do, and you got told to join the army and shoot the enemy.

Its kinda fun though and the respawn feature is a lot nicer than not having it irl. :D

First level is absolutely gorgeous but so far the game is a mindless, scripted shooting gallery.

It wouldn't be COD if it wasn't ;)

I like my FPS's with lots of interesting objectives, but it seems like no dev does that anymore (Rare does, but their last shooter was shit). At the very lease COD's are supre intense and the arcade mode should be a lot of fun. From what I've seen the scenarios seem to be more interesting (to me) in COD4, like the "all ghilled up" mission, that looked awesome.

Yeah if I get COD4 it will be mainly for the multilayer. COD campaign hasn't evolved since COD1 but it has gotten flashier.

that took long

have you ever played an IW game before? They're all scripted.

Yes, and that is not fun because of what?

Gears was scripted all the way, and it sold millions. Not saying I enjoyed gears because I actually didn't, but that's not the point. So many many games are scripted, but alot of the times that's what makes it fun.

so its just like all the other cod single player experiences? COD single player portions havce always been mindless scripted trial and error fests.

i am getting this for multiplayer anyways.

btw which version you playing?

Knock scripted events all you want, but the end of this first tanker level was fuckin intense.

I'm impressed for how little lag there is in the PS3 version... It looks, runs, and PLAYS beautifully... Excellent job IW... Hat's off...

This guy is just itching to troll the X360 version :lol

simple question, no need for you to start some petty system war

I have a 360 and PS3, trying to figure out which version to get, hence why I would also wan to see comparison pics

Well then, I'm pretty sure it'll scale just fine to 1080p. Neither the PS3 or X360 version is running at a native 1080p resolution.

I don't even care if the game is scripted, its so damn fun. Its like a roller coaster ride. I'll play online for competition anyways. Its great that both the single player and online is so good.

"Rather than use the standard array of weapons available in most first person shooters (assault rifle, submachine gun, sniper rife, shotgun, etc.) Call of Duty 4 decided to include multiple variations of each type, such as the AK-47 and M4A1 belonging in the assault rifle category. Doing this confuses the average sports gamer and causes online play to be a hassle. Often times I notice too many enemies are on the screen at once and visual effects divert ones' attention away from the battle."

Playing the PS3 version right now. It is extremely good-looking. Looks basically identical to the 360 beta. One thing I am noticing is that the sound has more oomph on the PS3, for some reason. I am so fucking impressed with IW right now. Holy shit.

I actually really quite like how the guns feel with the SixAxis pad too.
Excellent! I hate waiting. >.<
Hopefully the bonus DVD and hardcover book will be worth the wait. :D

Here we go...

Screw who has the better graphics, just enjoy the fucking game god dammit. Don't start a war because of other peoples opinion.

for this, and many other scenes on Hardened, patience is key.

and avoiding grenades is also key.

Really? I'm playing on Hardened and I'm stuck at the TV station where you need to go the second floor. Jesus, I hang back and shoot and shoot and the enemies never seem to stop coming. Goddamn hard.

a good tactic in the TV station control room is to start the fight, then try to draw them back into the smaller room where you came from. this'll funnel them into the doorway and make your LOS easier to negotiate. if they cooperate.

The sound is capable of having more "oomph" on the PS3 since the console is capable of outputting up to 7.1 channels of completely uncompressed PCM audio over the HDMI cable as opposed to the Xbox 360 which can only out put lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 audio.

It's not worth the lacking online functionality the PS3 version has compared to the 360 version however IMO. I'm picking up the 360 one myself because of this.

Gamecrazy had extra copies for those without a pre-order. ok back to playing.

The Gamecrazy in Alhambra had them for those in the Los Angeles area.

If either version is real, native 1080p the pixel counters at Beyond3D will prove it very shortly.

Of course, this isn't going to happen.

There's no way either version is native 1080p.

That's Call of Duty for you, endlessly spawning enemies. On Normal that's a pretty cool game mechanic as it keeps the enemies coming at you at all times and forcing you to move forward but on Veteran it just annoys the crap out of me.

You just can't hang back and take them off from a distance, you could sit for 30 minutes and they would still keep coming, and what's even more annoying on the harder difficulties is that your teammates won't move forward until you move forward, they'll just sit there and wait for you to advance and take out the enemy.

Graphics are simply unreal. But so far the game is pretty boring. I feel like I'm watching most of it happen. I'm playing the 360 version because it looks better.

PS3 version sounds better and looks spectacular as well, though.

J-Rez, need any players for multi? I wanna try this out on PSn.

My tag is Beamber. Let me know, I have to get to bed soon :D
