I haven't played CoD for years. I was never a huge CoD fan since I was never really a multiplayer guy. But I've heard the campaign this year is very good.

Is the campaign worth buying at full price good? And good as in compared to other FPS good? Or is it just "good compared to previous CoD's" good?
It's good but I wouldn't spend 60eu on it. Just get a trial (or cheap) Gamepass and finish it in three sittings that way.

The campaign is superior to many of the last few years we have gotten and the MP is in a good spot simply because to me COD just gets it right with its gun play.

I guess you only have a PlayStation to play it on?

The best way to at least play the campaign is buying one month of Gamepass

Directed mode in zombies

"For those wanting to experience the full complement of round-based Zombies action, including the completion of each map’s Main Quest and the ongoing narrative, but are intimidated at the complexity and difficulty of the game, we have you covered. Introducing Directed Mode:

Directed Mode: This is a new way to grow the Zombies community, enabling newer players – including those that didn’t follow the storyline in previous Zombies experiences – to dive into the game with a little more help than just a Loadout and a will to survive.
  • Directed Mode offers direct assistance in completing the Main Quest, with objectives listed on-screen. All Side Quests, Easter Eggs. Trials, and the Rampage Inducer are disabled in this mode.
  • Rounds are capped, based on completing certain steps within the progression, so the undead hordes don’t get out of hand before you have time to increase your prowess with the use of Perks and Pack-a-Punch weaponry.
    • For example, you may be asked to investigate a location and complete an objective there, during which a Round Cap is set to a certain round number. This means zombie waves will still spawn, but once the round cap is reached and all zombies in that round defeated, the same round will spawn again, until the objective is completed.
  • Just as important as growing the Zombies community is allowing the biggest fans of the game enough time to explore the new maps completely unaided, just as they did in the past. Directed Mode will therefore arrive later after launch, with a Calling Card reward available for completing the Main Quest before its Directed Mode goes live."

As a lvl 30, why does this game put me exclusively in rooms full of 3rd - 6th prestige? I haven't played a COD since MW2 and I'm like 4th place 90% of the time against these guys running around with 100% sensitivity whose guns will perfectly snap to targets from clear across the screen with reticles that don't budge a millimeter off target at full auto spray.

Still dislike the trend of having to pay for operators that are in the campaign, hope there's a cool park skin in the bp/bc at least.
My brother bought that bruce campbell operator pack whenever it was released and i never did and still regret it :(
Still use him in MWIII and MWZ.

Level doesn't really matter, just shows time played, matchmaking is based on performance

Because either those people are bad (but played a lot of the game) or you actually better than you think you are.....

I elaborated on my post above, but I'm terrible and these guys definitely ain't bad. It just seems like terrible match making.

It will swing back around to make matches more even for you

The game must have thought you had a couple of good matches and paired you with higher skilled players, keep at it the match making will balance itself

In that case its likely these guys will probably be grinding camos as I am just now. The result of camo grinding is it essentially destroys your KD. Depending on what camo you are trying to get, you will have matches with little kills and loads of deaths. Im sure it messes with SBMM.

Wallbuy is vanilla, mystery box/reward has random attachments; cold war had an option where you could apply any blueprint you have mid-game, maybe they'll include that in an update.
Free epic or legendary guns are generally worth it though, the damage increase is worth much more than some attachments
You can set the wallbuy weapons to use your loadout attachements by setting it as a "zombie" build in the gunsmith. So when you get it off the wall it'll have all the attachments you want. Very useful if running the double pistol strat where you start with a different primary and then do the wallbuy for the pistol. Allows you to farm for salvage much easier with a weapon that has ADS and a suppressor.

Yes that feature is alright, but the BP apply feature in cold war is much much better, I hope that returns eventually.

Unfortunately very few devs have the bandwidth required to do it right... There must be 100s of people working just on cosmetics, etc.

Maybe AI/ML can help that aspect
Absolutely. 500 person teams just can't produce the content required to keep the base happy. The amount of people working on this game must be insane.

On a side note looking forward to Resurgence with the new move set and weapons next week.

I agree with the others who replied to you. It's good, but not $70 standalone good. If you have access to play Game Pass games, I think it'd be worth the 1-month sub price.

In the old days, I could've just said, "It's worth a rental."

Also, give the zombies mode a chance, if you'd like. It's compelling.

Let's see what they do with the BO6 weapons in Warzone... I guessing they might be OP but maybe they can surprise us with a balanced meta that includes MWII and MWIII weapons?

Unlikely.

I domt think they'll make the same mistakes as with WZ1 and they'll just nerf the MW guns into the ground, and id be fine with that. The meta was stale as fuck anyway.

They should just straight up remove them if you ask me but everyone would cry over lost skins

As a purely WZ and Ranked player this all sounds Good!

Not sure how SBMM is going to work with any rank being able to team up.

A Bronze with 3 Iridescent sounds like a way to cheat the system to me???

Finished the campaign. It was…pretty decent? A good variety of missions, most of them entertaining. Still too much stealth and dead time for my liking though - I definitely preferred the whack-a-mole levels of the earlier campaigns.

Was not a fan of Emergence, but I did like the mannequin quarter - amazingly well implemented!

As always through, just a tasty side dish to the MP for me.

healing aura, phoenix up gobble gum etc.

Again, impossible to survive under the circumstances I was in. Have never obtained a phoenix gumball and aether shroud > healing aura as health will regenerate, can safely revive teammates, catch your breath and strategize based on the threat you're facing etc. If we had all 4 players no doubt we would have cleared it which would have been quite something for randoms not using mics.

got my first nuke on lowdown yesterday. once you hear the operator count 20 kills it's actually pretty easy just hide and play old school CoD camp style to get those last 10 kills. for me i just hid out on that lower level looking over point B with the water.

Nah healing aura is better because everyone gets to keep the perks on their bleedout bar, which is vital. Aether shroud is better for keeping the group alive, not reviving.

How we liking this cod?
Honestly Omni movement is too much and I'm not really enjoying how fast they made everyone.
I hate how the visibility in this game continues the trend of being terrible, Cold War was so clear, I hate the new engine in this aspect.
Map pool is so/so, except warhead. Fuck warhead. That spot on the roof where you can't spot someone 's head sucks.

Overall it's better than mw3 imo, but not as good as Cold War. Decent cod that suffers from visibility issues and being too fast for it's own good.

That said, I'll still grind Dark Matter lmao

Wait so 10v10 is coming but... on what maps? Are we seriously getting 20 players on these small ass maps?
Rewind, Red Card, Vorkuta, Lowtown - they could all hold 10v10. Carnage, but I think that’s the point - to bring more action!

You know, Vanguard was panned but it had some great features. Combat pacing where you could select tactical, normal or blitz, and it would adjust the team size accordingly on a per map basis. Great stuff.

And Patrol - what a great game mode.

And destructible doors and walls!

Then the description on Healing Aura is incorrect, mentions nothing about reviving. If it heals *and* revives then it's obviously better for that but Aether still has it's benefits, all situational.

Not really incorrect, you get healed as long as you're not dead yet, plus the augment mentions keeping perks on the bleedout bar

Chairman Yang

if he talks about books, you better damn well listen
First CoD I've played multiplayer in since Cold War. It's fine, but two questions:

1. Why are the graphics worse, and the maps blander, than Cold War?
2. Why is everything toned down and samey compared to the old MW1/2? The perks are balanced but boring, and I remember seeing tons of crazy killstreaks/scorestreaks going off constantly in those games. Lots of crazy weapons, planes, countermeasures, etc. Is that era of CoD long gone, never to return? Sad, if so.

I dont mind the omnimovement personally, but movement speed in general is too fast, especially for these maps and for the TTK of the game.
The recon specialty needs flat out removing, ruins the game for me.
Maps are all garbage too except for Red Card, Vault, Vorkuta and maybe Lowtown. But even they suffer from the problem of being able to be seen from every angle all the time.

Reached round 106 in zombie's and I've yet to play 10 games of it. I hate it.

The whole thing is a mess with the most cluttered UI since BO4 and the most visually unappealing maps ever. No more gorgeous skyboxes and over-the-top set pieces. Some parts look straight up like multiplayer maps and I wonder if we will ever see something like the robots on Origins again.

The points-per-kill system makes it so linear that the first 25 rounds of any game will always play out 100% the same no matter how hard you try to deviate from it.

Previously there was points equal to damage (BO4, CW, MWZ) which was practically the same. BO1-2-3 had points per shot which was incredibly fun since you 100% controlled the pace of the game. It made for a perfect risk/reward mechanic and it also made almost every box weapon viable and fun to use to at least some extent. Right now people just spam the box until they get the highest DPS one.

And why on earth did they make it more difficult to have a crawler again. Are they afraid people will abuse it somehow or is it for game stability reasons? I'm geniunely curious.

I get why people would like this but I see absolutely nothing "classic" about it which is the term I see regularly being used. Rounds aside, what exactly makes this classic? Shit has more special enemies than Shadows of Evil... and fucking speedboats.

Luckily for me BO3 is still steadily releasing quality custom maps. If anyone in here hasn't tried BO3 on PC yet than I highly recommend giving it a try. Even if you don't want to play user-created stuff it's still the best and most expansive zombie experience to date imo.
