Everybody else explained it pretty well, but i can say I'm 100% sure if you still want my answer.
Also, remember when elite was down back in november and nobody could access it for like forever. In return, Beachhead decided to give everybody a month extra to their subscription of Elite to make up for the lost month, but it's kinda dumb cause we really don't get anything out it because almost everybody that bought elite will be playing black ops 2 during that extra month. I guess it does benefit some people though, who aren't planning on getting blops 2 elite and want the service as long as they can have it.
Also, i remember finding out somewhere that there won't be content drops with black ops 2 elite and they'll just be releasing the collection to elite subs for some amount of time earlier than the release date, but nobody knows how early yet.
