Call Of Duty's Reveals Weed-Themed Nuketown Map

this started pretty much in 2014, even before that really, but 2014 was the most visible; and lol cold war? Cold war has rambo like you said, but also john mclane from die hard, Donnie Darko, and JUDGE DREDD, and GHOSTFACE from scream.....and that's ignoring the flaming skeletons

Which CODs had Spawn and that alien tree looking dude? When I saw that it was like wtf?

Which CODs had Spawn and that alien tree looking dude?
MWII, which carried them forward to MWIII.
Spawn was the main theme for the last season of MWII so he had a lot of skins, including military style and human versions:

And he was voiced by keith david, so overall really well done.

Activision can hide behind the age rating but they know that kids and teens buy there game and they're using weed related content to exploit them for a quick buck. Were adults also the target audience when they had nicki minaj in one of there call of duties blowing people up??? They know that teens/kids make up a large portion of the fanbase.

You really want to die on this hill, don't you?

In the USA, where I imagine the bulk of COD players live, weed is legalized/decriminalized in 24 states. That is almost half the country. Kids aren't going into dispensaries and buying weed. Adults with jobs are the ones buying the game and DLC. Are there braindead and useless parents who buy Mature games and the relative content for their kids regardless of its nature? Sure are. But Activision isn't sitting there crunching numbers for players under 17 and scheming to market "WEED!" to juveniles. By the very system they participate in, they can't expect to sell Mature content to minors even if they wanted to. Adults are the ones who are making DLC profitable. Now if you said that Activision doesn't care if kids are at least interested in adult content in games, then you'd be on the right track.

This is just sad...

Not only the "celebration" of drugs (I have meet people destroyed by weed, it is not "innocuous" as people claim) but also what they do to CoD. I know it is not a new thing but it is still sad to see that what we used to laugh some year ago about how shops on mobile games made games look like an incoherent mess, now you is celebrated and used by big names.

Im sadly glad I have been skipping CoD and when I play them, I just boot my original MW3 on my xbox and have fun.

I don't understand weed culture. It's like dudes pick up weed and it becomes their whole personality. I don't get it.

Sadly, this garbage sells or they wouldn't be making it.

BO6 is the first COD I've seriously played in probably a decade. I like the game, just hate the skins and crap. I wanted to see if I could still play these games. It took some time to get used to it again. However, I've had my FPS fix and will move on again.

Is there a new movie coming out or something? Why are these stupid characters in the game?
Who knows. But I do know Clerks movie is a true gem and I am willing to bet that very few of these kids on COD know of it.

I enjoyed all 3, but the first is the true gem.

As weed becomes more mainstream and legal, this shit just gets more and more cringe

Remember this guy who made an entire career out of being like "dude, you guys like weeEeeeed?!"

It always makes me cringe when people make weed their entire personality.

which is kind of an oxymoron because if you've ever had to deal with someone who lives off the stuff, they basically have no personality.

I have nothing against Zol or people who smoke it. But they gotta know this shit is cringe and that they are dumbing their brains with the stuff.

with regards to COD it really shows you who the main audience is for these games now.

When will we get a big AAA franchise to compete that focuses back on the military action side of things. I don't mind the superhero-esque storylines we've gotten in CODs like the OG BlackOps trilogy. I just hope we can get something big budget that is more boots on the ground, squad-based action.

There was a time when we had loads of series in that vein, Socom, Battlefield, Conflict, Brothers in Arms, Hidden and Dangerous, even the old school COD up to MW. Shame that they are all essentially dead and buried.

And i don't mean big PVP online games or battle royales or Extraction shooter nonsense. Just an old school linear game with some fun set pieces, a squad you get to know, a pretty generic story but is fun nonetheless.

I should go watch Clerks again, it's been a while.

Jay and Silent Bob... what demographic are they targeting here? I would have imagined most would have moved past this phase of adolence and moved on with maturity.
There's no way the kids/Teens playing fortnite, and similar games, have an idea who Kevin Smith is or the movies he directed.

However, last time I played COD, that weed smoking lizard skin was everywhere. Guess if it sells...

I get the point, and I'm sure they know their game is played by a lot of kids. But the game is rated M, so if any kid is playing this game, the parents are to blame.

That is technically true, but we all learned with the CS:GO Lottery stuff that this is all just theory. The game is played by kids, the publisher knows this, and they do nothing about it, because it's too lucrative. That's Activition, that's Valve.

what demographic are they targeting here?
Dunno what the confusion is about.
You don't think activision has a gigantic amount of data on their demographics? All of their 80s/90s bundles sell well, which isn't surprising at all considering the average "gamer" is in their 30s.
The more confusing part to me is people thinking that the dozens of millions of players of this rated M/18 game are somehow all kids.

Honestly i would'nt even give a shit about these cosmetics if we could have an option to turn off the the skins for the rest of the lobby.
I mean they have one with the "gore" for the stupid kill animations from the weapons, why not for the skins too.

I remember the stupidest / silliest / most out of place thing in a CoD game was getting gold camo for your weapons.

Though thinking about it, that was before the death of creativity I.e microtransacrions outside of map packs.

I hope someday we get a crack themed map.
It will happen when American's realize that it's been "made from natural botanical extracts" all along.
The COD map is the result of legalization that will expand to include flora in general.
Anything "plant based" (excluding heroin and WMDs) will end up being decriminalized in the US.
Racist American drug laws supported by bad science and lies don't hold up when everyone has the internet in their phone.
