Calling someone an "NPC" is a pretty weak insult. You look like a moron when you use it.

I've been seeing people use NPC as an insult more often recently. It's a pathetic insult and you're doing yourself a disservice by using it.

If I'm participating online and someone calls me an "NPC", that doesn't make me think I'm incapable of higher thought. It makes me think the person saying it is incapable of interacting with normal people> it is a sign that you're in way too deep into gamer culture. Use a better insult and stop embarassing yourself.

Nope, I wasn't called an NPC. But I've been seeing it happen both on this site and on others and it's so fucking cringy. It makes me embarassed that I even understood what they meant.

The NPC insult is thrown around too often (as is SJW, incel etc) but it was born from the all too robotic and automatic ( like an AI...GET IT) responses that so many would give when challenged to actually think...

When the automatic response for a person boils down to political buzzwords or dehumanizing somebody they disagree with and no real rational thought...well then you're simply a thoughtless drone merely repeating a script...

Insulting anyone with malicious intent is pathetic, regardless of the insult.

That being said, OP it's not gonna change. War never changes.

Would dickhead work?

i remember calling valentines day npc shit because it makes you do the kind of things you can really do any day of the year on your own terms

I haven't really seen this term being used before, but I think it ... kinda works? It has very specific implications which will sting if it's used in the right context. As long as it's not tossed around left and right, I would hardly find it "cringey".

Is this post from 2018? Pretty sure you get banned from most social media if you use it.

Tool, NPC, bot, drone, brainwashed, etc.

Some people are these things. That doesn't mean the term will always be used appropriately. People are fairly trigger-happy when it comes to insults. Sometimes it's accurate though.

NPC is a great insult. People who are called NPCs are deeply offended by it, which proves how efficient it is. Twitter banned 1500 accounts in 2018 for using the NPC meme. That's a pretty clear sign that the insult struck a nerve.

As an added bonus, the insult doesn't rely bigotry or ad hominem attacks. The only people who are truly offended by the NPC label are NPCs themselves.

insults in general are supposed to offedned the other person and allow for the others emotions to come out. The fact that you have an emotaional response to the NPC insult shows that its effective.

Here's an idea... don't use insults and dont react to others insults because its just words. Snowflake

Aren’t we all just NPCs though, just going through the motions for the benefit of the User and trying not to get nullified?

They say the User lives outside the Net and inputs games for pleasure. No one knows for sure, but I intend to find out!

It's just like "chud" but whereas that's an insult from the left to the right, "NPC" is an insult from right to left.

I'm not a fan of either but hey that's internet discourse these days.

I haven’t seen anyone use it as an insult, I must be looking in the wrong places if I missed it rising to fame and causing a ban wave 3 years ago. On GAF the preferred insult is still beta cuck soy boy, which at least has more to it than the nerdier form of sheep.

It sounds like you got called an NPC. I think it's a pretty tame insult and if you take offence by it, well, too bad you sensitive Nancy.

If you think about it, it's a compliment. You're non-playable, they'll have to try to work their bullshit on somebody else.
