Someday somebody is going to make a movie called Searching for Bill Watterson, and it will be cool.

Or maybe it would be cool to respect and revere a cherished author by leaving him the hell alone.

Ok, guess it's not done yet. I could've sworn there was some fan made thing where they went to his hometown and everything--might be a book/article.

Yeah, I saw that something is in the works called Dear Mr. Watterson. Looks like it could be pretty groovy actually.

BAN HIM,
Never have I been so crushed by a "cleaver" thread title tease.
I feel like crying now.. thanks
I hate you soo much.

I really do hate you.

*Sadface

It's a misleading thread title, but I'm not particularly sure I'd want Calvin and Hobbes to come back in any significant form.

I mean, then way the strip ended was simply perfect, and for me it is still more amusing and charming than anything else out there. Watterson let it come to a natural close, no need to change that.

Last Halloween I wore a sombrero in honor of this strip.

Tricked...like so many in this thread. I didn't know about the complete collection. So something good came out of this thread.

As if the thread title wasn't depressing enough, now people are posting C&H strips?

Sigh.

Here you go, pricks:

Absolutely pathetic part deux
I knew what the OP was before clicking on the thread so I wasn't all that disappointed. I think in rankings of all time comic strips, I would say:

1. Peanuts
2. The Far Side
3. Calvin and Hobbes
4. Bloom County
5. Life in Hell
6. Perry Bible Fellowship
7. Red Meat
8. Doonesbury
9. Zippy the Pinhead
10. Boondocks

Oh fuck off.

Just appreciate it for what it is.

If Schulz can keep Peanuts from getting fucked, does your retarded ass really believe Watterson will let someone fuck up his creation after he's dead and gone? Think again bucko.

Oh please stop being naive and grow the fuck up. its a comic strip not the Holy grail.

Watterson has made is view on licencing Cavil and Hobbes quite clear but if you think there wont be people lining up to throw buckets of money at his family when he pass on your the retard here. He'll be just like many other artist family members that well whore out his name and talent for money.

I'm looking at you Asimovs and the Roddenberry's

My heart kinda skipped a beat there, thought it would just be for a special comic "best of x year" reprint since he stated so many times why he quit the industry in the first place.

And fuck if there is not a lot of Calvin and Hobbes avatars on here, think its time for my lazy ass to get another avatar :lol.

First thing I thought on seeing the title was "can't wait to see what BS this guy is lying about in his thread title." :lol

When I was a kid I always imagined Bill Watterson was an old timey elderly grandfather type person. Wasn't until a decade or so ago that I realized he started Calvin and Hobbes when he was just 27.

Yeah, he looks just like Calvin's dad.

Has Watterson ever opined on that ritalin strip? It's fairly poignant and I'd imagine it's one of the very few non-Watterson-produced C&H pieces of material that he might have actually liked.

Don't think so. He's incredibly reclusive so I suppose the opportunity has never arrived for somebody to ask him that. On a side note, do people here really want a continuation of the series? When I think about it hard enough, the series ended on a perfect note.

Did I ever tell anyone I had a stuffed tiger as a kid? I would take it around with me. I was fucked up :(

I didn't just have a stuffed tiger ( I had 5 or 6), I had a stuffed Hobbes tiger. And it's the only one I kept ( I'm 25).
