LOL. Right now with in my range in my room I pick up 4 wireless networks from around the neighborhood. Out of the 4 only 2 are encrypted including mine. I currently have a direct connect to my laptop since Im dl stuff and browsing the net on a neighbors wireless network using my desktop. I can see why hacking can be easy. Now to check if they are sharing any folders......

In the neighborhood where i used to live, i could drive through and pick up at least four SSIDs on my PDA. None were encrypted. i used to wardrive all the time, just to see what was out there, but the thrill is gone, and i have no real use for it anyways.

My sister just got a laptop a few months ago with built in wireless but there isn't a wireless network setup where she is so she leaches off someone elses unecrypted network. When she was in France a couple weeks ago, she leached that way. Heh now with the PSP, I every now and then fire up the Network setup just to scan the area and see what networks are available. Oddly enough even at work, there are two unecrypted networks in the area.

We went to my aunt's place in DC for thanksgiving last year and she doesn't have broadband. WoW had just come out and having only been able to play for a day or so before going up there so I was still itching to play. When we got there I used my mom's laptop to check for wireless networks in the area, and sure enough there was an unencrypted network. It would only work from like one corner of the house, though. I swear I sat in the same chair for 4 days leeching off their bandwidth playing that damn game.

I'm praying that where I'm moving next month, someone has an access point nearby. My friend got his internet that way till his neighbor pulled the plug.
