Can you have too much music?

Seriously, I have about 3000 songs. All rock. When I'm home and I want to just listen to music, I have no fucking clue what to listen to. I can't decide what to listen to, so I end up jumping around, barely listening to whole songs, and I don't enjoy it. Once I get an iPod, I know I'm going to do the same shit with that probably.

When I'm driving, it's a completely different story. My car only plays regular CDs, and that limits my listening choices a lot, yet I really enjoy listening to music just driving around.

I don't even know what the fuck my point is....but I already wasted time typing this.

And you're already complaining? I'm currently pushing 19k, and adding new stuff daily. So to answer your question: Fuck no, there isn't something as too much music.

Having 3000 songs is not a problem. What IS a problem is when you say it's all rock. What the fuck man? DIVERSIFY.

I think he meant they all rock, as in, they are all good, yo.

And no, you can never have enough music. The only problem is that there's never enough time in the day to listen to said music.

I have way too much music but never have a problem deciding what to listen to. When in doubt, pick an old favorite and play.

3000+ isn't a whole lot to me; I have nearly 4000 songs and it's completely manageable. I wouldn't mind having 4000 more, let alone 19,000. It's only about 40GB total in 192/MP3, or just under 100GB in Apple Lossless.

I have like 8,000 mp3s, and I could always use more.

Man, I thought I was some kind of hot shit for having just shy of 3,000 audio files tucked away in iTunes. I better get crackin'.

Are you kidding? I've got about 700 CD's. I wish I could get good enough lighting for my shitty webcam to take a good picture of it, it fills up the space under my desk...

I got 2000 in my media library and another 500 unsorted. I could go for more than that. I figure I'll level off at 5-6k before I'm satisfied. Then I'll add music slower after that. I still have a lot of old music I still need to rip to mp3, and some mixtapes I gotta track down. Too much music? Nah. Too much music for CDs maybe. Are there any car receivers that play mp3s stored on DVD? That's the solution I need. PEACE.

i've got 10,006 songs, and it is indeed a pain. Between organizing (which is geekily fun), deleting, and then getting CDs for those i want to legitimately own, i can say that music-related activities are the number two time waster on my PC, with web browsing being number one. i just got home and realized that i left my netradio streamripper on, so i've got another couple hundred songs to review, delete, and eventually organize and purchase.

goddamit, Griese!
as already stated, no. I was at 6800 but my harddrive decided to die =/

I had 4000 of them on my mp3 player, but the rest is gone forever. the worst thing is not knowing what i'm missing....and 2800 songs isn't exactly a small amount =(

I know for sure I'm missing all my bootlegs, so that's about 1500 songs right there. Sigh.

and yeah, organizing everything sucks so fucking much. everytime i have to do it for some reason i'm sorting the files and every other song "oh, that's a great song, i'm gonna listen to it now" and then 5 seconds in you find another song you wanna hear.

This reminds me of all the backlog threads in the Gaming Section... so I'd say "yes".

I'm happy that despite having more CD's than I can safely count, I've listened to them all more than once. No exceptions.

I smell bacon... I'm gone.

I have well over 1000 CDs, and some more music I've bought online or ripped from friends.

I think it's fair to say I have too much music.

I'm in the process of ripping it all to 192kbs AAC for iPod useage, but it will never all fit, so I am archiving a lot of it off to DVD-R in the meantime.

You need another hard drive. As soon as i find a cheap 200GB 5400RPM drive, i'll use it for backup and dedicate my 120GB for music. My 80GB music partition is nearly full.
