Pretty cool. I think they should have kicked the Queen off the 20 though instead. John A Macdonald was good people.

I never said ''instead'',

I said that after the Queen abdicates or expires, then they should free up the $20 Bill available for anybody else (not Charles!!!)

Who wants Charles on the 20?

I am cool with the $10 bill change with Desmond.

Nobody liked MacDonald anyway

This is really cool. Although MacDonald should probably be on one of the bills. Pierre Elliot Trudeau too, although the current Prime Minister couldn't possibly do that lol. Not terribly many bills to work with to be honest, but if we drop the Queen we'd have the 20 and all the coins to work with.

That's dope. I'm from Halifax (but grew up in BC) and had never heard of Viola Davis until the last few years.

I was also just complaining that Canada doesn't do much to acknowledge its Black history either. But that could be due to where I live; Victoria is fucking White as hell.

Shame about Suicide Squad tho

Wow cant believe they didnt bother teaching us about her in school.
While Desmond was personally quite admirable, her case wasn't actually a terribly significant moment in Canadian history, unlike the woman to whom she's often formulaically compared, Rosa Parks. Parks' actions led to the Montgomery Bus Boycott and a new phase of the US Civil Rights Movement. Nothing comparable happened in Nova Scotia or anywhere else.

I wasn't aware that they're actually removing PMs from the bills, I thought these new people were going on the other side. Ah, well, King and Borden have had a good run, though given how seldom people use $50 and $100 bills these days, Macdonald and Laurier's visibility is definitely going to take a hit.

Toronto isn't much different than New York. Hell it doesn't even get the snow that buffalo does.

I've heard some horror stories from friends living in Canada about the weather there, but they all seemed to love their lives there.

If only Canada wasn't cold AF I'd consider moving there.

Winter is almost non-existent in the Great Lakes Region of Southern Ontario. Basically, as long as you live anywhere between Windsor to Toronto, and possibly extending along the shoreline of Lake Ontario towards Kingston. I also hear Vancouver is golden as well with even better weather.

Honestly, I can't even remember the last proper winter with Snow which lasted more than a couple days. The last few winters for me were basically thick sweater, gloves and hat territory. No coat required

On the other hand, I will emerge from my 600ft of snow in about six months from now living near the coast of Lake Huron.

So, exactly what the OP said they were doing then?

Pretty much:

New $5: TBD
New $10: Viola Desmond
New $50: Sir Wilfrid Laurier
New $100: Sir John A. MacDonald

Anyway I'm not surprised at many of the remarks since most Canadians on average know jack about Canadian history. Mainly because of lack of education on the matter.

Other than PET, for another PM I would say LBP. He was the one who established Canada's role as peacekeepers.

That's of course before Harper threw it out.
