Canadian Best Buy E3 Preorders only 20% off (lol)

I'm a diehard Persona fan and I'll probably just keep the PS3 version unless it turns out there are substantial differences. Considering this is a JRPG in a franchise whose last mainline entry was on PS2, I don't really expect any.

After the closure of FS (even though they were the same company) I guessed that there would be less internal competition from each department to out do the other in revenue.

The Canadian dollar is weak right now, they jacked the prices on games up.

Which is weird cause when the dollar is weak movies still cost the same, but game prices jump immediately, and when our dollar regains its strength it takes them like 6-8 months to re-adjust pricing.

Ain't it funny when our dollar was strong, prices didn't go down? Lol economics.

LOL. Not buying. Doesn't even bring the price down to 59.99. 3rd party games on PC, here I come. Any exclusive games (aside from Nintendo) will drop down in price by $40 in a couple of months anyways.

Thank God I still have like 12 games on preorder at 49.99, and final fantasy xv, MGSV at 39.99.

I don't know my SDM

what do they do around October?

Last year, they have Far Cry for $30. Destiny was also cheap.

Just last week I nabbed Splatoon for $59 which was $10 cheaper than EB games Canada. This was a particularly good deals because SDM were offering 20X points on $50, so I got essentially $10 worth of points on top of the deal.

These games should be priced at $74.99 max. If these companies wanna start ripping us Canadians off, then so be it. I'm not going to be paying $80.

So glad I only play pc games now. With the steam store only adding a 10% increase plus l the other online stores games are literally $20-30 cheaper day one. Take into account the crazy sales and it's even crazier.

I like how this thread is half "screw you Best Buy" and half "screw you Canadian dollar".

Best Buy should make it up to us by doing another trade in deal like the one that got us Assassin's Creed/Battlefield/COD Ghosts for two crappy games.

Approach this with a rational mind, fellow Canadian gamers.

Kijiji is your friend if you can wait one week after game launch.

If you have a back catalogue and can wait, then Shoppers Drug Mart and other big box stores has those crazy deals as we approach October.

If you have a family member and an Xbox, then go digital and split the cost.

I'll just cross post then...

Got FC4, LBP3, NHL 15, Watch_Dogs and Bloodborne for $45 with Uncharted 4, R6: Siege and The Division coming later for the same. I'm not buying at these prices.

Amazon.ca could easily undercut Best Buy and get most of the pre-order money if they wish to do so, but we'll see what happen. They were good to me last year since they were fucking up all over the place in the beginning hours of the promo (got 3 games for 114$ CAD before tax which is better than the 2013 E3 promo lol).

At best, I suspect amazon.ca will offer 25% off with 3 games. XD

Wouldn't people just run to Best Buy and price match? Or is that not doable on a deal like this?

I don't think you can match a pre-order deal, as Best Buy and Future Shop had different one in 2013 (it wouldn't have made any sense for them to be different if you could just match one for the other).

Just wait fellow Canadians. Sony will announce a $50 PS4 price drop this fall in the US. However, "to better match the realities of currency exchange" our price will stay at $449.

Maybe by 2017 we will be able to get a system for the price it launched at.

Wow fuck that, guess this is the "year of the backlog" for me! I am already sour over how many busted games I've paid full price for this last year, so they can kiss my ass, I'll buy them when they go half price 3 months down the road and are patched to actually work as advertised.
