I was at the 7-11 today, and saw, beside the regular Mountain Dew sans Caffiene, a new variety.

Mountain Dew Energy

with caffiene.

Basically, it looks like someone has figured a way around the ban on caffiene in non-dark sodas by marketing it as an energy drink, so basically, we now have caffienated Dew, just like our American neighbors!

I got a big old 2l bottle

I'm pretty sure soda is worse for you than caffeine in moderation. Green tea is very good for you and it contains some caffeine. Same with pure cocoa.

Barq's has caffiene, yeah, but not Mug/Hires/A&W, but that's just because Root Beer isn't naturally caffinated. Since it's a 'dark' soda though, it's fine to add Caffiene to, so theoretically they could all be caffeinated

First time i saw Tab was three years ago in a certain "fashionable" city in Michigan. Haven't seen it elsewhere since. Isn't it something like Dr. Pepper with a regular-tasting cola added? It's been a good fifteen years or more since i've had any.

Tabs been around since maybe the 60 or 70s. The big thing about it was that it used some sweetner that when tested on mice caused cancer. There was such an uproar that the company, that made it, I think Coke, placed a warning on the cans saying that the sweetner caused cancer in mice. Hardly any store chains carried it after that. I think either last year or the year before the FSA allowed the company to remove the warning from the label.

Say what you will about the Patriot Act, but the surest measure of a society's freedom is whether or not they allow-- nay, embrace-- caffeinated beverages. Thus, we can safely conclude that the US > Canada.

Hahaha, I'll have to get some of this NATURAL MD ENERGY DRINK this weekend when I'm in Canada.

Tab contains saccharine, and it tastes nothing like Diet Coke. It tastes more like giving a homeless person a rimjob. It's gross. And yeah, caffeine free "Mountain Dew Citrus Splash" tastes exactly like US Dew, there's no difference. I'd be happy if Pepsi used real sugar instead of corn syrup north of the border, but alas, they don't.

I've always found the difference between Canuck and U.S. Mountain Dew to be a bitter aftertaste in the caffeinated U.S. version.

I used to love Mountain Dew when I was younger, because it was so super-sweet. But I've really lost my taste for it. These days, I drink mostly Diet Coke.. which I find more refreshing for its lack of sugar.
