Can't find a DS? Don't listen to EB/Gamestop lies! Head to Target!

I have brought forth empirical evidence that the nation is not responding positively to Nintendos new portable.
How the fuck you got from "there are DS units in my Target in Wisconsin" to "the nation is not responding positively to the DS" is beyond me... oh wait, it's Mrbob.

this is one of the reasons I hate EB and gamestop. I was told once that I needed to pre-order Gunvalkyrie to ensure I would get a copy. I came back in the day it came out and they had 20+ copies in stock... I know its not the guys fault that he is a tool, he is trained that way.

Just came back from Target tonight. Wanted to update everyone on the interesting details I found.

Even after Black Friday, Target store still has 22 systems in stock! They only sold 13 since a week ago! Now I still think they'll sell out before Xmas but I'm surprised and shocked how many they had left. The DS buzz is taking the nation though!

I saw about 6-10 DS systems at an EB on Black Friday, also saw about 20 DS systems stacked up behind the register at a Toys R Us yesterday. (This is in SoCal.)

I'm not even looking for the damn system, I have one already. I'm thinking anyone who's bought one (or a few) to sell on ebay are gonna get burned...

Someone give me a Toronto report! Bob, fly out here with your crack team of reporters and start searching Walmarts.

we had 42 at TRU for launch day.

sold all but 2

ninty sends us 4 more

sold all those

ninty sends us 20 more. (on black friday no less)

it's not going too bad. they sell pretty quick.

Sounds pretty much in tune with our store (Gamestop in Covina).

25 first shipment. Sell all. Nintendo ships some Wednesday or Thursday, sell 5 Friday morning to deplete the latest shipment. Nintendo sends another 9-15 that day, sell all by yesterday (could have been Friday even- I didn't close).

Like hotcakes, I tells ya. We had 2 people come in and buy new PSTwos. It's the first time I've seen anyone buy a new console at the store, and I've worked there for a month.

You don't work the "mainstream" hours. :P

If you're in the Columbus area I think all of our Target stores are out presently. At least they were when I came home from work tonight. They've been gone since Black Friday, along with all of our SPs, which I found a little surprising and we still haven't gotten even the SPs back in. The Target oasis doesn't seem to take long to dry up after all the other places like EB and TRU sell out.

To be honest I've still been unable to come up with a good reason to tell people who're unsure if they want a DS to get one. I don't have Wario Ware, Pokemon, or Metroid to offer them. I thought about snagging one for myself when we first got them but I just couldn't justify it.

Here in Central California you can find them without hunting too much. Target,Best Buy,Circuit City,I drop by these stores a few times each week, they all have around 5 DS boxes out for display ready for purchase.

GBA is still the popular choice. Nintendo needs to drop the price after Christmas if they expect the unit(DS) to continue to sell at a very brisk rate. In order for Sony to meet Nintendo head on I expect a huge marketing blitz for their hand held debut. And as soon as consumers hear about it I'd imagine they'd probably take a wait and see approach. I'd imagine that the GBA is still going to continue to sell better than both handhelds for atleast another year or two.
