Ok so I've done fucked up, when I saw that outlook thread I decided to upgrade my account to outlook and now I can't sign in to xbox live or games for windows live (moronic but I thought it would all somehow just work). What can I do?

I've had a similar thing happen with Bing I think. I kept getting redirected infinitely on the xbox.com site Not sure if thats your issue but if it is, make sure you're signed out of Outlook then try it again.

Have you tried your Outlook password on Xbox Live and Windows live? Maybe it got changed.

What's strange is I did this for my brother too and has a folder in his new outlook email with his old hotmail email stuff and mine doesn't anymore but it did when I signed up.

Oh I see what you're saying. You upgraded from a Hotmail to an Outlook.com address but your gamertag is still linked to your hotmail address?

If you can't get into your old hotmail account you may need to call 1 800 4 MYXBOX and have them change your login for you.

The hotmail id apparently does not exist anymore, i try to sign with it on xbox and hotmail and it says the microsoft account does not exist. I'll try contacting support, because currently I'm really fucked.

There was a warning about doing this that I was given, so I opted not to. It said something about making my default account something different would require me to re-register any devices I had configured (like Windows Phones or Xbox's) with the account.

It was a question with a check box saying, sure I know the risks.

My account isn't through MS in the first place though, it's my gmail account name/address though, so when I went to change it it may have given me something different, but sounds like it's something everyone should see.

Its because you converted the Hotmail address to an Outlook address. You are supposed to sign in using the Outlook address now to MS services. The Hotmail email only exists as an alias now (which means email sent to it will be forwarded to your Outlook email).

Don't try signing in with Hotmail, it just doesn't exist as a login any more. Singing in will only work with the Outlook address. Maybe you've forgotten the Outlook email address you changed to (its possible you made a typo?). And the password should be the same password you were using with Hotmail.

What error message are you getting when signing in with your Outlook address on Outlook.com?

If you're signing in with the correct Outlook address (or at least an address that exists) but you are using the wrong password it should say: "That password is incorrect. Be sure you're using the password for your Microsoft account."

If you're signing in with your Hotmail account (which shouldn't exist) or another address name that doesn't exist it should say: "That Microsoft account doesn't exist. Enter a different email address or get a new account."

It's funny. I can log into xbox live with my outlook account and no issue

But then I try to play Batman Arkham Asylum on my PC and I can't login. Says hotmail account doesn't exist anymore as a Live ID, and outlook account doesn't match my Gamertag

I cannot log in either. My gamertag is linked with my gmail account, however at the sign in page, it says "Be sure you're using the password for your Microsoft account."
Is it saying I need to use my gmail log in but use my Outlook password???

edit: When I log in using my Outlook, it asks me to create a gamertag profile.
