that's all there really is to say. If you haven't checked em out give em a listen some time.

Does anyone know what happened to these guys?

Ha, are you kidding? They're all like the kings of the Chicago indie scene now - Joan of Arc, Owen, etc., etc.

no I wasn't kidding, I just got the compilation album and I wanted to know more. It kicks ass that they are still out there, this of course begs the question... are Joan of Arc and Owen good?

i find it hard to believe that a) you just heard cap'n jazz b) without hearing the promise ring first

also they were a fluke at being so good. their work afterwards is really awful.

honestly, I've never heard of promise ring. I was just surfin around iTunes clicking on random bands and listening to the samples and I stumbled across Cap'n Jazz at which point I immediatly ordered the CD from Amazon.

the promise ring is so damn horrible..

quick note, i was stood up by a date to see the promise ring.. and to top it off, they were horribly out of tune and just downright bad. gah.

My roommate is in love with Tim Kinsella. I'm not a big fan.

My God! has it been 2 months aready! Anyway I'm still listening to Analphabetpolothology. When a CD, even when it's 2 discs, dominates my listening habits, and I mean DOMINATES, it's something special. I have listened to Cap'n Jazz daily for the last 2 months and I still can't get enough. Anyway, I thought it wise to bump this thread rather than start a new one.

This poster pulses with an appeal so broad the typical restraints of our societies fall by the wayside.
Cap'n Jazz was pretty much the one good thing that Tim Kinsella has had a part in. Everything else has just sucked and sounded pretty much the same. He's relentless, though, I'll give him that.

true, after further exploring I found that Cap'n Jazz is pretty much it, though I did order the Owls CD a week ago and have yet to recieve/listen to it.
