I have a 93' Pathfinder SE. The engine died and I've been looking for a replacement. On the top of my dead engine the engraving is "Nissan V6 3000". So far I've found a working 93' Pathfinder engine that's a V6 3.2.

I'm not sure if it'll work in my Pathfinder or if it's even the same model.
Can someone explain?

The mechanic you plan to have do this for you should be able to answer the question more accurately, but generally numbers after an engine depict its size -- so the V6 3.2 is probably a 3.2 litre engine, or a 3200. But auto manufacturers often fudge the numbers a bit so they might be the same. Bottom line -- take your mechanic's word for it.

Also, it might be cheaper just to get another beater Pathfinder that runs, than to replace the engine.

You need the VG30E engine for chassis WD21. The same engine variation that powered the earlier 3rd generation Nissan Maxima and 300ZX. I'm not sure what 3.2L engine you found, but as far as I know, Nissan never had a 3.2 in any cars - but they did have a 3.3 V6 on the 96-00 Pathfinder and on the previous Quest, which was also shared in Mercury's Villager.

Edit: And all Pathfinders 90-95 shared the same 3.0L engine.

So there's no chance the engine can be a 3.2l? Awesome.
