I need help chosing my new oled tv

Boys, so I just got my C5 today. Sheit man, using a 42inch TV as monitor is surreal. Just play a bit of Halo (my old 970 can't handle new games on this rez) and holy shit... that's a close as you can get when it comes to "in the game feeling". I tried to make a decent picture but somehow it's impossible to illustrate the size with a photo. It blows me away.

So glad I didn't opt for the 32inch monitor. Thank you guys!

I would assume that the store guy went through all modes and tweaked the settings, it takes less than one hour. Factory reset will remove calibration.

Once you use it for a couple hundred hours you can get it professionally calibrated with a colorimeter (OLEDs take some time to stabilize colours and brightness). But unless you're using it for professional work or you're all about 4K discs, it's not worth it. Just calibrate it again, if you feel like it, using a guide like the one from Resetera above or rtings.
Thanx mate!

Was thinking about picking up a Bravia 8 II, but it looks like the prices have gone up $800 ~ $1000 for a 65" after the holiday sales. Oh well.

Interesting video about the Sony...

So what is the word if it's between the LG G5 and the Samsung S95F at 65"? Both still seem reasonably priced.

I'd be upgrading from a LG CX 55".

Quantum TV is a known entity in tech enthusiast circles. He is an unmitigated piece of shit, known for intentionally fucking around with settings to push whatever narrative he wants. According to him, the Sony 950H, an LED TV back in 2020, had better picture quality than the LG CX. He was gaming in filmmaker mode (lmao) in SDR with brightness at 25 on the OLED, then bitched about how dim it was compared to the LED. He also publishes nonsensical settings that no picture quality enthusiast worth a damn would publish. Dude also got arrested due to domestic abuse of his wife.

Interesting, I didn't know all this.

But when it comes to Bravia 8 II he is not the only one with critique of this TV. CalebRated did the whole video defending this TV (blaming the reviewers) and he looked like he way paid by Sony to do this.

For gaming I don't think Sony tvs are the best picks.

You're not wrong, I noticed one of Caleb's recent videos mentioning that "Hisense is the brand to beat" or whatever in the thumbnail, and that is just absolute nonsense. I think he's being paid.

I need help brothers. Buying my first OLED. Either 55 or 65in depending on any sale I can get around the Super Bowl.

LG C5 VS Samsung S90F

LG is WOLED. Samsung is QD-OLED. LG has Dolby Vision. Samsung does not. Samsung has the better warranty (and extended warranty). LG is usually cheaper by a $100 or more (not always). I'll be watching in a fairly dark room. I'll be using it mostly for the Steam Machine and Steaming apps like HBO Max, Netflix, etc.

I have paralysis by analysis.

Do you watch or stream a lot of movies? The Dolby Vision on the LG will be better in that case, if it's mainly for gaming then HDR10+ is the choice and that's on both.

it's a no brainer then, LGC5.. i have one in our front room and it's an incredible telly

I can't provide any definitive evidence or hard facts, just my own personal experiences.
The living room has a 77" LGCX and I needed a 65" TV for my office with the primary use being gaming.
Went through the list here https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/best/by-usage/video-gaming and was thinking a lot between the C5 and the S90F.
Eventually I went with the S90F. It's nice, I like it. I only played and finished Stellar Blade on my PS5 Pro with it. I don't like the small remote, small compared to the remote from the LGCX, but the LG C5 also has a small remote.

My dudes, I'm scavenging this OT because I'm considering upgrading my panel.

PS5 Pro owner here, rocking a 65" Sony X90J, which is FALD LED.

TV came out in 2021, I got it on 2022, so I'm about to make 4 years with it.

Usually I get a panel upgrade per generation but I feel I might be missing on a better image quality, considering I have the Pro.

I know there's new technology on the horizon, but first iterations of new TV technology tend to be a bit more rough, I think.

So I've been thinking about OLED, but I'm one of those burn-in manics that thinks that he is gonna get it, despite being extra careful with everything.

I'll be directly switching my current TV, which seats on a bright-ish room, but with manageable light conditions. I actually play more in the dark, rather than in a bright environment.

Also, my room has a bit of high humidity levels during winter, which seems to be worse for OLED rather than mini-LED.

I'm split between premium models - LG G5, Samsung S95F or, if I decide to go mini-led Sony Bravia 9 - but Bravia 9 at 65" is much more expensive than the other two.

Main purpose will be games.

Please help a fellow gaffer.

I'm also looking for recommendations for a 65 inch OLED. Samsung or LG seem to be the two main competitors. Any recommendations are very welcome.

I picked up a Sony A95L (most similar to Bravia 8ii and Samsung S90F) last September. I've been using it as a monitor since then and have not noticed any burn-in. I do auto-hide the taskbar, mostly use SDR with brightness at 25 out of 50 and peak brightness turned off, burn-in protection settings left on, and reserve HDR for games. It's a great set and I'm very happy with it. Previous TV was a Sony Z9F FALD LED and while A95L is an improvement it isn't quite as big of a jump as I thought it would be. It's a lot of little things, like no blooming, better viewing angle, and better contrast in fine details.

S95F, Bravia 8ii, or Bravia 9 would all be good choices, or maybe wait to see how good Sony RGB LED is (Bravia 7ii & 9ii). The older sets might be on clearance by then too.
