Carmageddon: Rogue Shift Announced for PS5, PC, Switch 2 & Xbox Series

Other than tight roads, having weapons seems fun if the rest of the mayhem is also there. Maybe it's just COD with cars now though...or Twisted Metal.

Having the open zone, race track, zombies/humans, random power ups was fun. Imagine if they had Sonic Transformed style transformations in areas, could've been something truly different.

Still, will keep an eye on it, try a demo or something.

Looks extremely bad. It shouldve been a grittier & bloodier verson of Wreckfest where I can drive over old ladies and leaves smears on the pavement.

Better yet... Blur

I have too agree.
And that is the problem. This game could be a great new "Blur". That appeals to the fans of that series.
But This is not a Carmageddon, so it will disappoint, regardless of being any good.

I enjoyed Max Damage but that didnt really take off did it and isnt as beloved as 1 and 2 I feel. I dont mind something fresh. Peds being zombies is stupid sure.

Max Damage was good. But it's mostly a retread of the old games.
At least it wasn't TRD 2000.
I don't know if this is going to be a good game or not. Just that it's not what the brand implies.

Not sure how close this is to Carmageddon, but looks cool enough for me to want to see more.

I'll take more car games that aren't for the sim-obsessed audience, and with weapons in a darker than cart-racing aesthetic.

Even though rogue-lites are being overdone, I've never played with those elements in a racing game before. I could see the structure adding some fun progression and dynamism to a genre designed for you to replay content...but execution will be everything.

Just did another career of MD on Xbox. I always forget how annoying the AI really is. Its up there with NFS and MK. Wrecking opponents is just not fun unlike 2.

I'm conflicted about the zombies... On one hand it's annoying when devs pussy out of having controversial features in their games, especially if they're trying to appeal to the 'modern audience' ... on the other, having a game where you just mow down untold hundreds of hapless civilians in an orgy of blood and guts is ... not good. It's not good for the player's psyche or his outlook on the world. I don't care if there's 'no evidence games don't cause violence', you can't tell me playing whack a mole with virtual grannies on the highway won't negatively affect your ability to empathize with your fellow man. "Where do we draw the line" ? Fuck if I know, but I think this should perhaps be on the wrong side of that line.

Wait, no multiplayer at all? Odd.

I'll still give it a try, didn't expect Carmageddon to ever come back after that last game dropped the ball hard.

Yeah, let's make a new Carmageddon, but make it Burnout in a post-apocalyptic world with glowy green blobs and zombies, because obviously that's what Carmageddon was all about.

Also, found this trash world building backstory on Steam:

THE WASTED
The Third World War and a series of devastating natural disasters left Earth in ruins. Amidst the chaos, a food supplement called MiVis was introduced to address food shortages, and became a ubiquitous part of daily life.

However, long-term consumption of MiVis led to a horrific cellular mutation, transforming people into Wasted - monstrous, empty husks consumed by the supplement's side effects.

Now, they have become a mass of unsentient, super-aggressive beings that threaten survivors as soon as the sun starts to set.

A lone Wasted is no match for your chariot of fury. Things start to heat up when more Wasteds show up. Boost into the hordes of humanoid husks swarming the track, parting the waves of Wasted like a Moses on wheels! But be careful not to get stuck in the high tide: too many Wasteds will surround your car and smash it to bits with the remains of their raw hands.

And then there are Special Wasteds… horrible supermutations of the Wasted, morphed into something even less human.

They may explode, shoot you from a distance, lunge at your car, or produce even nastier surprises.

They pose a real danger and tend to show up late at night.

And then, there's the ultimate abomination. A creature whispered about, rarely seen; the monster that guards the only mountain pass towards salvation, and your final challenge.

This looks closer to what Twisted Metal and Burnouts bastard child would look like.

Dont care whats its called, I want it, cuz its near literally exactly what Ive been begging for since Twisted Metal and Burnout were actually popular.

Yeah it looks awesome, I'd just ignore what all six remaining Carmageddon fans say about it not being true to the original. Who cares?
