The wave of disappointment I felt when they flipped the switch to turn it ON, what an absolute pile of shite.

I understand what these remixes do, on a technical level and I get that sometimes you need to make some changes to make realistically rendered light and shadows work with the game in question, but this is a time when it just looks bad and changing it work with this realistic rendering will be a pointless endeavour because you'd need to change every single aspect of the game.

Just play Carmageddon 2, or Max Damage if you want an updated version. I know the physics aren't identical, I'm a massive carma-nerd who's followed it since inception, I appreciate each version within the context of the time it released. Trying to make C1 look like this modern is a waste of time imo.

The massive framerate drop at the "I was in the war!" sound sample playing did make me laugh tbf. Good job, person who has never played this game before this. Pressing the recover button when they meant to press repair... smh.
