This mostly seems to be character introductions but damn do those cartoon cars look nice.

Anyone else think the 1st one looks like he came from Split Second?

First teaser looked like something for an upcoming DCEU film rather than Cars film, let alone a Pixar teaser.

This teaser feels a bit closer to what I'd expect from Cars, but feels more like a graphical vehicle showcase for the next Forza or Gran Turismo, rather than a movie teaser trailer or a teaser giving a glimpse of the main characters (for comparison's sake, the introductory clips for the characters in Inside Out clearly conveys what type of character each of the main characters are...even given that the characters are inherently emotions).

What the heck is the tone for this movie going to be?

Well... the interest I had in this after that weird, dark and gritty announcement teaser is more or less gone now.

In this trailer, the whole world around the cars is black. Nothing to reflect.

In most images for any other of the Cars movies, there are nearly no reflections shown. those that are shown are in select shots, and severely muted in general.

I echo all of this. Jackson Storm's intro starts off amazing. The echoing pulse of music in the background, the realistic detailed close ups, the fades.

Then he opens his goddamn cartoony eyes. It's such a dissonant characteristic. x.x

I'll have to echo the eyes complaints. Storm's car model looked amazing and the eyes took me right out. Unfortunately, that's nothing they can change; they have to match the character style of the previous movies.

Fairly sure this is confirmed to be the plot. McQueen is old now, all the young new cars are whipping his ass, he suffers a gnarly wreck (mirroring what happened to Doc Hudson) and is looking at retirement when the new yellow car Cruz takes him under her "wing" to teach him the tricks of the new age cars. Not like they're gonna spoil the ending in a plot description before it's out but I'd be very surprised if he's not retired and in a mentor role by the end of it, bringing everything full circle with his story and the Hudson Hornet.

I know it's a Cars movie and all but honestly I think it could have some pretty moving stuff there in that story. The "am I too old for this, should I just give up?" feeling is something I'm sure a lot of people go through.
